Looking into moving to Gibraltar
With my wife and 1.5 y/o baby and I'd like to know if anyone has any knowledge of what I'd need to earn if we want to live in a 2 bedroom appartement, send the baby to nursery, own a car, have helath insurance, etc.. Can anyone help?

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.

Put Gibraltar in the search box at the top right of page, there have been lots of threads with info in. I think only one person on here lives there though, everything there is different to Spain cos it`s a different country.

People survive on the minimum wage which is about £6/hr
In the next link just enter 2 Beds and tick To Rent or For Sale to give you an idea of accommodation, don't enter location or price.

I have no idea of nursery prices.
Gibraltar has it's own version of the NHS if you are working or living here.
Also take jdr's advice
Hope that helps

Re: Looking into moving to Gibraltar
Thanks Jdr and Fredbargate.
I'd be earning a lot more than the minimum wage and i'd want to do a lot more than 'survive'..
Having said that, I looked at propertygibraltar.com and i've gone thru thr threads Jdr suggested but havent found answers to questions like what would a car cost in Gib, how much does patrol cost, will my wife and baby need seperate helf insurance and if so what would the cost be..
Thanks in advance for your efforts!!

In Spain if you pay into the system then the whole family is covered for health, even if you are not married and just partners.
Petrol was cheaper in Gib the last time I was there, Google garages in Gib for cost of cars there.

Fred Bargate has kindly provided a lot of useful links to information about Gibraltar.
They are available now in the "Free Beer" thread and also in the Wiki entry "Useful information about Spain".
I will post them here as well.
Thanks Fred
Some useful Gibraltar links
Government of Gibraltar main page http://www.gibraltar.gov.gi
From the above you can link through to

This link brings many of the Gibraltar estate agents onto one page, but please note that although I believe this page keeps up to date many of the Estate agents do not.
For anyone who does not know Gibraltar just enter the number of bedrooms required in either For Sale or To Rent, the place is too small to worry about location at this stage.

95 Octane £1.05 Diesel £1.03 / ltr but it changes daily.
Car Insurance again I believe it is cheaper than Uk plus you get 12 months green card for the Iberian Penisular.

I said before that Gibraltar has it's own version of the NHS i.e. free healthcare.
Prescriptions are £2.50 per item up to 3 items, free beyond that

As it has been said car cost vary greatly from a banger to a roller, and if you plan to do a lot more than survive surly the cost of petrol is irrelevant as the variation in price would be minimal to a high/highish earner ,and also the price can change in a very short time.
The price today might not hold true for when you arrive anyway.
Cheers
