Hi
I'm looking to make new friends in the Benidorm/Altea/Calpe area. I came over from the UK 6 months ago with my girlfriend but we've since parted and now I find myself, well, a bit lonley if I'm honest. Spain is wonderful but it's so much better with friends.
I'm in my early 40s and male. My only social outlet at the moment is going to the gym! Yikes!!
So please get in touch if you're feeling socially inclusive, or just want to take pity on me and give me a hug.
Richard

I'm not sure there are many members here from Altea. Used to love sitting in the bar in the square drinking very expensive Gin & Tonics :-)
Have you looked for a U3A group around you? They are useful for hobbies and meeting people at the same time. I used to be in the Photography group but they have all kinds of stuff going on

I think a possible way out of my 'predicament' would be to get a job in a lively bar. Well, at least it would take my mind off things while I settle myself. Anyone know of any bars in Beni looking for part time evening staff?

Another way out is to win the lottery. You might have a better chance than finding a job.
Other than going to a gym, do you have any interests hobbies etc. Good way to meet others with a common interest. Sounds like you are fit join a sports club - cycling maybe?

I've often found the walking groups quite useful not only in meeting people but also getting out and about and seeing different areas, villages and people you'd never otherwise come across.
...or maybe you could give Barbara a tinkle on the Companions network.

Get the train from Altea to Benidorm, in the late evening. From the train station walk downhill and turn left at the big roundabout. Walk as far as the Avenida Europa, turn right and at the second or third turning turn left and it will take you to the Square and the famous Cafe Benidorm.
If you don't pull there after a couple of visits, you're doing something wrong.
Or, contact Benidorm Singles.

They'll cuddle you all right once you've treated them.

Mods, does the forum have 'get togethers?' I ask because the part of the Northern Costa Blanca where the OP lives is within easy reach of so many other very popular places. I do recall something happening meeting wise, at the top of the Gabriel de Miro in Calpe, but that was many years ago.

I'd be up for a beer in say Albir or Finestrat, my favourite places down that way. Even better if anyone cycles down there - Benidorm certainly looks different on 2 wheels.
