I am aware of that but I didn't imply they did, conversely it has been implied the opposite.

Sweetie, I fear you are being silly again. At no point did I say that all the relatives felt he was innocent. Au contraire my little gollum. The majority, mostly yanks, feel very strongly that he was as guilty as hell. Like you they are not prepared to let reason or doubt get in the way of a satisfactory conviction that got them all a chunk of that delicious Lybian dosh.

I wonder how quick they will be to refund all that if his conviction is ever overturned?

By the way, post Lockerbie, there was a massive cash payment made to a terrorist group who were caught using gear very similar to that used in Lockerbie according to an article posted in the lounge. Sadly there was no direct link proven which would have been nice.

Matt, if you are going to post with the grownups, could you please stick to adult postings which steer clear f cheap stupidinsults which frankly do your case no good. You might notice that when you are polite to me (which isn't often) and post sensibly then I am always polite to you.

When you are childish and abusive, then I will always take pleasure in rubbing your face in your mess, just like I would a poorly house trained puppy.

In short, play nice, and I'll be nice to you.

Do you know what, I have just read back through the thread and realised something. I, at no point replied to Chim Chimeny and yet he tried to ridicule and dismiss me out of the discussion, I never even spoke to him, Mitz and I were having a discussion and he decided to make some twattish Dick Van Dyke comment about me having all the secret information.... What's the matter Billy? You not getting any at the moment so you feel that you need to drive people away in case they disagree with you?

Sad little man, really really sad.

Well, if you notice, whenever matt is polite to me I am polite to him. If he is rude to me, I return the compliment. That makes him angry.

I will say this. If he stops the silly remarks, and debates sensibly, then I will never agan be rude to him.

He is intelligent, and capable of carrying out an interesting discussion. Hell, he even gets karma from me when I think he's posted something really good.

I just think it's a shame that so many threads have to slide into this silliness because he seems to have taken such a dislike to me.

Yeah, on that occasion I was a bit forward. Perhaps because you are so fast with posts like 21.

Tell you what, why don't we call it quits and just be polite to each other?

OK?

In 1988, the US shot down an Iranian private aircraft, killing 290 innocent people. The same year, someone brought down a private American aircraft killing 270 innocent people. Both the US and the Lybians paid out large sums in compensation for each incident.

We live in a murky and horrible world, worthy of discussion at every level, but name-calling should have no part in it.

There is actually just as much of a link to the Irish as the Iranians.

Can I say something without being shouted down please? I´ve been watching this thread with interest, not least because two of my favourite posters (both of whom are knowledgeable in their different ways) are at one anothers throats over something we really cannot possibly know the answer to. Stop it the both of you. All this rhetoric is not going to convince either of you to change your minds. Agree to disagree, please, I´m sure we will never know the truth, whatever it is.

I suppose you're going to start calling me names, I don't mind, I'm both an emmet and a grockel, meaning that I know Devon and Cornwall like the back of my hand.and I would still be there if it ever stopped raining.

Have you actually read this thread?

I was happily discussing the subject and I was attacked.

Unreal, if you have nothing to add to the discussion, blame Matt... brilliant tactics!

Have I read this thread? Yes. And all you've done is to attack other posters and call them names. You're not interested in the subject matter, for some reason, you just want to continue some silly game stretching back over the years.

As I understand it, you're working on a sheep farm in Devon, and you've worked as a barman in Spain, I'm not being condescending, but it hardly qualifies you to comment in the way that you do.

Ok, have a look again... in particular post 20 and how it relates to my comments...

Oh and No I don't work on a sheep farm, I have sheep, but I work for no one except myself.... and no, I didn't just work in a bar, among other numerous things I am a Master saddler and have a Horticultural Masters.... oh and unlike so many people commenting on this subject I have first hand at not only the Middle East but also some of the complexities of the situation.....now if thats OK for you let me know....

Now if we are calling peoples eligibility to comment on this subject shall we all shut up?

Many seem to be convinced of his guilt while others are certain he innocent on here, I doubt anyone on here is that well imformed to be certain.

I think whats wrong here is that the man was convicted of such a heinous crime that all "normally" rules should have been thrown aside and he should have been lept in jail unless his lawyers proved his innocence(and I say that as someone who thinks his convicion was dubious to say the least) but he was found guilty and now we will never know what evidence he/his lawyers had to prove different. I wnder if he was told to drop his appeal...what is it that they don't want us to know?!(or perhaps there is nothing)

Now we will never really know....

I cannot be bothered trawling through all the posts on this.

Guilty or not, on his own in this or not, the Government that set him free made a terrible mistake.

They knew that he would return to a `Heroes Welcome` because the Middle East have a childish mentality and will accept him as a hero and this will stick in the throats of the victims` families

That was the deal wasnt it ..... if he dropped his appeal, he would be released on compassionate grounds. Hence, as you say, the evidence will never be heard I guess.

I haven't seen a hard copy of a paper in days, but if you follow the link & read the online comments, someone suggests the information was disclosed first (or at least earlier) by The Independent.

Give me a break
So the solicitors that prepared the case that the Scots authorities did a deal with to stop becoming public are all lying, as are the witnesses and everyone involved.
So anything anyone says that you disagree with is lies
Not much point in continuing the discussion really
