Hi, as many of you may already know, on May 24th there are Local Elections in Spain and, of course, here in the city of Ayamonte. These are important as they result in the election of the Mayor, a key political figure in determining the political, administrative and social policies enacted by the council.

For the first time the national Ciudadanos (Citizens) party are presenting a Costa Esuri resident as a mayoral Candidate. This person is Mar Conde (some of you may already know or have heard of her), a lawyer that has been for many years one of the more active residents campaigning for the recognition of Costa Esuri rights against the Ayamonte mayor’s office. In the last years she has been the secretary of the Costa Esuri EUC and member of the Costa Esuri Residents Association (CERA). Also in the candidacy, are other prominent Costa Esuri residents: Jaime Riestra (the manager of the Golf course) and Francisco Rodriguez Castelo.

Next Thursday (May 14th) at 8:00 p.m. the candidates invite you to partake in a free glass of wine and, in an informal meeting, to hear and discuss with them their major concerns and ideas for the future.

This represents a real opportunity for us to have a direct impact on our future and for the first time to have somebody from Costa Esuri representing our interests in the Mayor's office. Please attend if you can, regards Mike
