living in costa del sol
Hi, my partner and I would like to move to Spain next year (both 29 yrs old), we would like to live near to puerto banus and have some questions:
* are there any large areas where the british expats live near to puerto banus?
* I am hoping to work as a self employed beautician/nail technician in this area -would you say this would be feasible?
* could anyone recommend any websites for companys offering long term rentals in this area?
Thank you in advance

1. Puerto Banus and Marbella both have loads of British Ex-pats, actual districts will depend on your budget (some properties in these towns can rent out for over €1,000 per week)
2. Yes it is perfectly fefeasible but you will have loads of competion
3. You could google it but a lot of properties never appear on their websites best to come over on holiday and negotiate. You will have to convince the agents that you can pay the rent as it is very difficult to evict a non-paying tennant here.

Puerto Banus is a very expensive area so make sure you bring a good financial back up with you.
Nails etc are quite a precarious business, probably best to see if you can buy a chair in an established business.
Your best bet with properties etc is to come over and find where you wold like to live and then, nearer the time see whats about. But you must make several fact finding trips beforehand to get a feel for the areas

think carefully before applying for an NIE to work as an autonomo (self employed). It will cost you 258 euros minimum in social security payments which will be sucked monthly from your bank account whether you make money or not

If you can recommend any areas that we should check out that would be brilliant.

Costa del Sol covers a sizable area, however, most of the larger 4 star hotels offer many of those facilities??

Well I dont know many, but theres a rather nice one called "The Torrequabrada" that I know has spa/gym facilities, beauty treatments etc cos a friend goes there quite often and I've seen signs on other hotels around that say that the facilities (tennis courts, gyms etc) are open to non residents, alot of 3 and 4 star+ hotels seem to have them these days - for a fee I'm sure!!! Theres also a private Gym up in Higueron I believe - But not being a "keep fit/beauty" type of person its not something I've noticed to any degree
