We live in Spain and are tax resident. In Spain we own a house and have a bank account. We own a property in the UK and have banks in the UK. We are in the process of setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney (Property and Financial) for the UK. We want to do the same in Spain and would like advice please. What is the equivalent to a UK LPA in Spain? Is there a standard format and is it just a question of going to a local Notario? Our financial matters are very straight forward.
Many thanks

Remember though that the LPA is cancelled once the person dies (many forget or don't know this)

Many thanks for the information. We now understand what is needed and the process for obtaning the Spain "Poder General" and will make an appointment with a Notario.
We are going through the process of obtaining the UK LPA's for our UK assets online. There will be a mixture of Spanish addresses and UK addresses for the various parties to the document. When the whole process of signing/witnessing etc is complete and the document submitted to the Office of the Public Guardian in the UK can the approved/stamped LPA be posted to a person eg the Donor/applicant with a Spanish address? It is not clear from the guidance notes. I have sent an enquiry but it can take several weeks for a reply!
Thanks
