JANETH is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Light fittings

Hi

Light fittings seem to be better and cheaper to buy in the UK - does anybody know if there is anything different about sizes and fittings in Spain that would prevent me from using UK ones? Are bulb sizes any different?

Thanks

Janeth

I don't agree with that - they are cheaper in Spain if you bother to look around.

There are some huge lighting shops which offer better prices than in the UK.

Most Spanish lights uses screw fitting bulbs - UK lights have bayonet fitting bulbs which are more difficult to obtain in Spain and are more expensive.

Agree with Fred James, far cheaper here, just bought new fittings for our lounge and would never have bought them as cheap in UK.

Hi Janeth
As pointed out I think Spanish & probable most of Europe have ES bulb holders, not BC like the UK.
I had to bring some BC bulbs from the UK I could not find any ES in Spain & that includes Leroy Merlin
The Spanish fittings I have installed have push in connections not screw like here so to take them down & rehang them could be a minor problem

We bought all of our central light fittings in Spain and they are screw fitting light bulbs. However, we have quite a few Tiffany style table lamps that require normal bayonet cap light bulbs and small bayonet light bulbs so I have just ordered a load of bulbs from a company in the UK who are very cheap. For example 10 x 40w bayonet cap candle lamps for £2.50.

So it is not impossible whatever you decide.

No. Sorry to disappoint you. I do not know the postage on one pack as I contacted them and asked if they would post to Spain and asked for a quote. I have ordered 60 in different sizes, both large and small bayonet (a good enough supply that I will not be ordering again) and the postage was £10). They sell every size bulb that you can think of in clear and opal with bayonet or screw fixing.
