Life is so short.
 

after a really horrible week, my OH and I have come to realise that life really cant be taken for granted and we have decided to return to Spain. Now some of you already knew that and others had already guessed it but I felt it was worth mentioning just to clarify why I am on this forum.

We had been toying with the idea and trying to weigh up the pro's and cons but given recent events it seems stupid to delay anything really.

We haven't decided on where yet and a few trips are planned this year to have a look around certain areas, but initially we are going for a year just to see whats going on.

We don't have a house to sell, and aside from our dog and a few thousand pounds worth of tools not much else to bring except ourselves.

I have put this in Siesta time because it doesn't really pertain to Spain as such, just our decision and subsequent discussion about the move.

We are planning to make the move next March, I cant leave any earlier because of my course and exams, but I will be finishing off the final part out there.

we have a bit of a short list of either Mallorca or around Jerez.

The OH loves Jerez and the large amount of horses out there would make it easy for her to do something, but I would love to go to Mallorca, love the boat scene out there and I have friends there.


But......we are still very open. I would love to just do nothing, I cant so its wherever work looks likely.

I don't have the usual problems of language, and I know Spain well enough not to think its some kind of Utopia without issues.

Fairly new to this site - i presumed you were already over in Spain - :ohmy:. Well good luck wherever you go - been to Mallorca - yep its great loved it - but like you say if you have to work you have to follow it - we were thinking of Menorca once but i think we would have struggled with work as its only a small island n the work is very seasonal. Anyway good luck with your course.

I too thought you were already living over there as opposed to over here! Obviously, I have no idea what has been happening in your life, but can only assume that it is something that has made you re-think. I can only agree whole heartedly with your posting...life really is very short, and the important thing is to live it to the best you can. Spain will, I am sure, recover from it's shock eventually when the news breaks of your arrival:rofl:

Good luck. Mallorca is fantastic, but property is SO expensive over there!

We dont plan on buying but your right, renting is not cheap there but if we decide to go there is a good amount of work there and my OH has contacted some horsey people out there.

Good for you making the decision. Sometimes it takes a bad week or so to sort out our heads and make us do what we really want to do. Making the most of your time and persuing your dreams is better than not trying and regretting it.

Hey Matt, you and OH are more than welcome to stay with us while you check this area out. Youve lived in Spain before so you should have a very good idea of what life is like. You are right, life is too short so enjoy it while you can.
