Default letter of invitation for visiting family

Does anyone have any update re current practice upon arrival?

While the rules are clear, there doesn´t seem to be any anecdotal evidence that the carta de invitacion is being demanded of UK family members visitng in Spain?

Many thanks

No there is not - I saw that although it exists the Spanish are happy to look the other way if the Brits relax with it.

But I can't find that link now...

A young relative arrived in Malaga last week from UK, staying a month with us. Was never asked anything, and they just stamped the passport.

I suspect immigration officials have got better things to do then interrogate obvious tourists.

I also suspect that the cops will be adopting a pragmatic approach to the ridiculous new speed limits.

I agree with the first line but doubt the second.

I doubt they will be asked, but .......
To save any problems, I would send an invitation. It costs nothing to e mail and may save worry, stress and possibly heartache.

Unfortunately it is but I would guess final part of your comment is the best way forward.

In our case, for our young relative, I drew up a letter in English and Spanish briefly explaining our plan and family relations, and attached a copy of TIE, passports and rental contract. It was never asked for but there was something that could be shown when necessary.
