I don't have to imagine.....that's what I did Jon.
And for those who don't know me......I'm 54 next week, my hair regularly varies between grey and orange, I have a mad donkey, I'm crap in the sack, and I'm Welsh!
So against those odds....if I can do it, anybody can!

Yep for sure, but not everyone is the same. Some are more determined or adaptable than others. Some cant handle the pressure. We shouldn't be too critical of people who have to go back, it doesn't necessarily mean failure

Kudos to you for that Lionda! People selectively read my posts and immediately think I'm ripping in to all Brits who go back....but I'm not!
I'm ripping into the Brits who go back and then blame everybody else for their situation. Spain isn't for everybody......some people will fit in and others won't.

In our case, we got here when I was 51 and the wife was 43....and instantly we felt as if we'd come home. It's very difficult to explain, but for the first time in our lives we felt we were where we were supposed to be.
We'd lived in many places in the UK and never fitted in or felt comfortable (even with the people)....it was like something was missing in our lives, but we didn't know exactly what.
We stepped onto Spanish soil for the first time in our lives on November 2nd 2005 and we both experienced a sort of inner realisation that this was the final piece of the puzzle that we'd been searching for all our lives.
Sounds bizarre I know.....but it hit us both straight away. Maybe it's the Gypsy in our blood (we both had Roma grandmothers)....but we just knew Spain was home. And after a journey that lasted a lifetime we'd finally found our way home.

Thats exactly my point Lionda, theres all kinds of reasons for going back and I realise Xtreme agrees ..... there are those though that look on it as a failure, which of course is daft

You were/are lucky.....I don't know where I feel most at home, I don't seem to belong anywhere. Maybe I'll settle down one day :)

There's a lot of different Spain's out there! And the Spain we live in is very different to the environment that most of the people on this forum live in.
Mitzy has been here but is unlikely to have seen more than what's on the surface to the average tourist. But when the victims....sorry visitors come in June.....they'll see real life!
Friday night I'll take them (if they're up for it) to a bar full of Gypsies where they all get up and sing their song about what they did during the week....really funny stuff where they just adlib the lyrics as they go along.
One of the best I heard was..."Came home from work, I was really tired, wife was waiting on the bed for a shag, couldn't get a hard on"
Not exactly Bob Dylan you understand....but still a valid social message.

Please note that you won't get stabbed or anything like that! As long as I don't tell them to of course!

Maybe we should have taken a look at your part of Spain then....sounds like fun :D Hubby is a musician and is always making up songs so he would fit in nicely - once he learned the language fluently

I came here at 51, had to learn a new language, and literally build my business up from nothing all over again. I pay my Nat Ins, taxes, IVA, and gestoria fees, and work seven days a week up to 100 hours....every week. And I wouldn't change things for the world! It's a great life here!

How good it must feel to be so righteous. I am sorry that you come across as being such an objectionable person. You have lived in Spain for only a couple of years and yet you are such an expert.
