There's a lot of different Spain's out there! And the Spain we live in is very different to the environment that most of the people on this forum live in.
Mitzy has been here but is unlikely to have seen more than what's on the surface to the average tourist. But when the victims....sorry visitors come in June.....they'll see real life!
Friday night I'll take them (if they're up for it) to a bar full of Gypsies where they all get up and sing their song about what they did during the week....really funny stuff where they just adlib the lyrics as they go along.
One of the best I heard was..."Came home from work, I was really tired, wife was waiting on the bed for a shag, couldn't get a hard on"
Not exactly Bob Dylan you understand....but still a valid social message.

Please note that you won't get stabbed or anything like that! As long as I don't tell them to of course!

Maybe we should have taken a look at your part of Spain then....sounds like fun :D Hubby is a musician and is always making up songs so he would fit in nicely - once he learned the language fluently

I came here at 51, had to learn a new language, and literally build my business up from nothing all over again. I pay my Nat Ins, taxes, IVA, and gestoria fees, and work seven days a week up to 100 hours....every week. And I wouldn't change things for the world! It's a great life here!

How good it must feel to be so righteous. I am sorry that you come across as being such an objectionable person. You have lived in Spain for only a couple of years and yet you are such an expert.

So you haven't even got the cojones to come out of the cave complex?

Go on.....venture out of your Brit comfort zone and see what real life is all about. It would certainly be another string to your bow in terms of your mod gig as well.....because you'd be able to advise on more issues other than irrelevant papers and soft furnishings!

You presume too much m'lud!
I'm always out of my comfort zone which is why I can often be found in a giibbering heap mumbling incoherently to myself.

I can see life with the gitano's is going to be something ever so helpful I can advise about on the site for prospective new ex pats, as opposed to the things they really need to get sorted when they come out here.

You mean making friends with the local Gitanos isn't the first thing you would do?

Re: Leaving Spain ?

Hi all,
An interesting thread!
We would love to move to Spain, but financially it would not work, so we are planning our future to try to make it happen. We already own a house in Almeria povince.
It is dificult sometimes to get a balanced view, as we see people who have taken huge risks moving over and unfortunatley, things have not worked out.We have also seen others who have embraced their new country settled in well and are earning a good living.
I do not want to work 100 hours a week though Pete!!:(
We do not "hate" the UK, so that is not the reason we want to move. We have a good lifestyle and live in a beautiful part of the country.
The warmer weather would help though particularly as I now have arthritis on top of my other health issues. I am 51, so have a few years to go yet!
We are learning the language, and this will only improve if we are in Spain.
Any comments, advice or encouragement greatly appreciated.
LMJ

In all seriousness Jon....it would be an eye opener for you.
It's all well and good reciting rules and regulations on a forum, but there's no substitute for real life experiences.
Then in the future when racist bigots come on here and spout filth, and when Brits mindlessly repeat the prejudices that they've heard from a friend of a friend etc, you will be able to speak of your personal experiences with some authority and credibility.
As I've said before, there are in excess of 800,000 Roma spread right across Spain, so I'm sure this is an issue that could affect many people coming here. Particularly in light of the prejudices that are demonstrated by certain sections of the population, and mindlessly endorsed by Brits who are too stupid and lazy to find out the truth for themselves.
It's your opportunity to find out for yourself, and you are free to recount your findings (good or bad) on all the forums you visit.
You up for some investigative journalism here?

listen, you're the one who proclaims he goes and loves in the beautiful countryside..........

I could easily have said something but I thought it best to let you reveal your odd sexual activities yourself.

By the way, if you, as a welshman, is loving in the countryside, does that mean that sheep are actually involved?

I do think you tend to presume quite a lot Pete :D, and what you're saying (although I know you'll say you are not) is that none of us have the life experience in Spain that you have. But then again, you don't have the experience I have, and with respect I dont necessarily think that meeting the Gitanos, nice as an experience as I'm sure it will be, is going to be a life enriching episode that will stand me in good stead for the rest of my life in Spain.
But hell, lets go for it

Top Man Jon! People have said you were nothing more than a foppish limp wristed spermtrumpet, and how you were just the Andrew Ridgeley of the team as opposed to jdr being the George Michael.
And I've always said....yes I know, but there is more to him than that....and you've just proved it.

Is it a specifically british disease , that Every Single Thread , aimed at any specific theme , which might well be of universal and/or worthy interest , just has to/MUST eventually turn into usual exchanging of rubbish-est one-liners , by a bunch of wasted lunatics ?
