Laptop Keyboard problem - Help

Laptop Keyboard problem - Help
I have pressed something on my laptop (I think it might be the FN button) and whenever I type the letter U it gives 4, P gives -, M gives 0. I cannot get rid of it, can anyone help
What does the FN button do anyway?

It activates the blue part of the buttons on the
keyboard. IE, if I press and hold the Fn button, and press the "K" key, the
number 2 is typed on the screen. It also shifts the F1 to F12 buttons to
their blue functions IE pressing Fn then F5 puts my computer into standby
mode.
