If it snowballs, then all bets are off from now on, maybe gloves as well.
On the other hand, if Rajoy and the cops/thugs are true to form, it will soon be a case of nothing to see here.

Re: King Juan Carlos to abdicate..
Poor old Felipe. The nation sits passive (if a little digruntled) at his father's foolishness, rants a bit but does nothing much about his brother in-law's dodgy dealings, but half the bloomin' country takes to the streets to prevent him becoming king.

Strange no one mentions that he allegedly was responsible for the death of his brother

So how goes the revolution, Comrade ?
Not seen mention of it on Spanish TV News up till now,
....unofficial censorship I presume,
yet it came up on UK TV News.

Re: King Juan Carlos to abdicate..
Apparently some thought it to be nice outing - nothing like a good old protest to get away from the grind.
I've always felt that monarchies are charming much in the same way as an old church or ancient relic, but serve little tangible purpose in the modern world.
Actors and pop stars at least have some reason for being famous. Nowadays, monarchs are just famous for being famous. We gladly pay for them to be insanely rich and famous, for sentimental reasons, of course. Besides, they give us something to throw rotten tomatoes at.

I don't think Felipe is in for such an easy ride as you think with so many deep seated negative factors at present in play, though no doubt he'll have an army of minders around to protect him from all harm.

Some will protest at the drop of a bocadillo at the moment, understandable though !

Re: King Juan Carlos to abdicate..
Very little mention of it in the Spanish media, but that's been the case with many of the anti-Govt demos during the last couple of years.
No co-operation from the Catalans regarding the change of Monarch either.
Increasingly bigger divisions across the country on several issues, so quite understandable that they are played down by Govt and media wherever possible to try and keep the lid on things.

I want to know why 18th June is being touted as a date (now 18th/19th) for the ceremony, given that Spain have a game that day in Brasil.
