I would say yes, provided your car complies fully with UK requirements (tax, MOT, insurance with green card) and has the necessary items for the country you happen to be in (spare bulbs, triangles, headlight deflectors etc). The important thing is to ensure that your insurance company fully understands and agrees with your intentions.

Hi

SO long as your car returns to its country of origen evey 6 months or LESS, then yes all can be OK. However, if you do not return it to its country of origen, then I would guess no. I believe it does not matter which european country you are in, you are allowed only 6 months away at any one time.

But if you live in Spain for more than 3 months you are resident and have to matriculate it to Spanish plates.

your hounor and members of the jury.He stated 6 months away. he did not state In.meaning 6 months away from uk.he did not state 6 months in any given country.

In between stark black and pure white there are all sorts of greys. Somewhere between the idiot who is still driving his 15 yr old Sierra minus tax, MOT and insurance and the long term tourist who takes 4 months exploring this country, staying in hotels, driving his own car lies a common sense and perfectly legal solution.

Because the car is not legal in either country, it has not been exported out of the UK and has not been imported into Spain, how do you insure a car that does not technically exist.
It is in fact in the land of make believe like a few people that post on here. ;-) ;-)

In answer to the o p`s question HERE but living in Spain for 3 months overrides this.
