To someone who won't listen??

We were in a club last night and Karen calls me over to the bar, she was stood talking to a couple we had never clapped eyes on before, this is in the UK by the way! "Explain about where we are in Spain"

Turns out the couple had sold up in England completely and were just waiting for the money to hit the bank. Then they were going to emigrate to Spain, inland of Alicante.

Never visited Spain in their lives, never heard of the area, knew where nothing was located, they had heard of La Romana though, someone had told them this was a good area.

So I stood for ten minutes explaining about the area they had chosen, rural away from many of the expats on the coast, although La Romana has plenty of its own, work would be hard to come by if not impossible, it wasn't as cheap as it used to be. To work you have to be fluent in Spanish to stand a chance of competing in the marketplace. I could go on and on here but I won't.

They seem to think with the 150 thousand sterling from the sale of their house, they can buy a 'rural finca' and have enough cash left to see them through the next couple of years. He was sure he was going to get plenty of work as a non spanish speaking builder!

I eventually made our excuses and walked away shaking my head, How on earth did you get to talking to a complete stranger about living in Spain? I asked Karen.

'Don't know really, it just sort of cropped up in the toilet'

Don't bother.

Most people who ask for advice IME/O don't really want it, all they want is confirmation that what they want to do is just great.

Those who have a problem usually don't want to change what they are doing, they just want a magic pill to cure the symptoms so they can go on doing just as they please.

So, 99% of the time you are just p*ssing into the wind to be honest.
