I've just got in..............

.....................from a great night at our village Fiesta
There was a fantastic band who played excellent music from 11.30 pm until 4.30 am!!
They did several encores, and I had a good old bop to "Living on a Prayer".
Obviously most of the songs were in Spanish, but they sang several in English which were really good too.
Amazingly, they started their set with my all time favourite song "Music" by John Miles
Anyway, have been for churros - but now it's time for bed.
I probably won't sleep for a while though; am still too high on adrenalin!
Plus the fact they're still packing away the stage at the moment, and the Plaza is still of people enjoying themselves!
Not a bad show for a tiny village with only 400 inhabitants.
Two more nights of the same to come
Will have to catch up with some reading of threads sometime tomorrow
Night (or morning!) to you all.

Amazing that your little village puts on so much at Fiesta time. Sounds as though the group was good too. So glad that you enjoyed yourself so much and guess that you will only surface properly later. Enjoy the rest of the fiesta.

Actually, lostinspain might feel relieved to know that we've got an annoying neighbour too!
I won't mention ALL the irritating and very noisy things he does, because I've moaned about him on here previously
However, bearing in mind that most of the village was still partying until around 6 am, our "delightful" neighbour woke us at 11 am with his music blaring out; accompanied by his latest "toy" - a siren that makes a horrible whining noise over and over again
It's not quite as bad as the "horn" he periodically sounds!!
It sounds like he's calling the dogs to the hunt, and he just blows it continually for about 10 minutes..............................don't ask me why!!
PS I'm not talking about a child here! This chap is in his 40s, and is a complete pain in the backside.

Glad to here that the fiesta is so enjoyable.

Not a child in age but certainly in mentality. I wonder what he would do if everyone kept on asking him to blow his horn or sound his siren because these people give up on things if they think it is not annoying. Then again I suppose it is better to suffer the horn for 10 minutes than for him to think up some other annoying noise which he might do for a longer time.
Glad to here that the fiesta is so enjoyable.

That could be a whole new thread to be honest Rosemary....................but I'm sure no-one wants to listen to all my gripes and groans about my inconsiderate neighbour

I've thought about all sorts of information I could impart to give you the big picture, but to be honest he's not worth me wasting my time!
I have worked with people with Learning Disabilities for 25 years, and I usually have the patience of a saint.
I would say this chap doesn't have a L/D, but I think it's likely that he has some mental health issues.
Whilst I'm not so well versed in mental health, I would normally have a lot of consideration for someone - but I'm afraid this bloke just pushes all my buttons

I can't tell you how hard it is to ignore his behaviour at times.
In the immortal words of the villagers her (saying it as it is, no PC here!).......
"He's mad", "He's not like you and me" ""He's not right in the head!"

Anyway, onto happier topics!
Well, our 4 day Fiesta finished in the early hours of this morning.................
and there were quite a few people saying "thank goodness!"
I think we're all a bit "Fiesta-d out!"
There's only so much dancing, socialising and sleeping you can do in one stretch
Because the band on Monday night were SO good, the band that followed on for Tuesday and last night had a lot to live up to.
Unfortunately, they weren't quite up to the task
They were very good and talented musicians, but their singing let them down.
We stayed out until 4.30 am on their first night, but last night the combination of the chilly
night, the band not being as good, everyone starting to flag a bit and some of the "out of towners" having gone home, meant that the atmosphere wasn't so electric - so we only managed to stay up until 2.30!
However, earlier in the evening, there was a fantastic Extremenos folk group who performed for more than an hour - and they were SUPERB!
I like English folk music and dancing, but I love the local songs and dances here. It may be the novelty factor of course, but I really get into the music.
I was also very pleased last night, when I found that I could actually undestand some of the words
There were about 10 musicians (guitars, a ? mandolin and a whole variety of ancient looking percussion instruments)
There were two main male singers, and a chorus of about 5 older ladies.
The dancers were all young men and women - and the men were VERY handsome!!
I love their costumes, their enthusiasm and the fact that they're keeping a tradition alive.
It was particularly good to see so many young people involved; one of the guitarists was only about 14, and I should think that most of the dancers were in their 20s and 30s.
Here are a few photos (including one of me with the lead singer
)
Notice the statutory fag in hand! (His, not mine!!)

And just to finish off, here are a few photos of the children's games from the first day of the Fiesta.
They were refreshingly simple games involving sack races, musical chairs, throwing bits of rolled up tin foil (!) and games involving water.
It all descended into one big water fight come the end, and it was lovely to see all the children having such innocent fun.
Not a game boy or MP3 to be seen!

Thanks Sam for posting the photo's and the description of the fiesta. Good to hear that it all went so well and that you enjoyed it so much. Makes you feel all warm and cosy when you are part of the life that the villagers enjoy.

Sorry I was posting my thanks to you regarding the first lot of photo's and you were putting the children's photo's on. They are all looking so enthusiastic about taking part and appear to be thoroughly enjoying themselves in such simple activities.
Thanks again for posting the pictures.

Sorry - me again. Surely this should all be on the Spain forum not in siesta time? Not everyone visits siesta time so people who are interested in what occurs in Spain may not see your posts about village life.

I wasn't too sure where to put the thread in the first place

Maybe one of the nice Mods will move it, if they see fit?
Thanks for your nice comments.
I never know whether people are interested in this sort of thing; but I loved reading all about your Fiesta - so I thought I'd post anyway.
