Built on the beach on the site for the proposed Marbella station, 334 apartments in one lump (HTF did they miss anything that size) declared illegal in about 2006 but still advertised for sale or rent now. |
Re: It's still happening...
Came across this.
http://www.typicallyspanish.com/news...le_24522.shtml The owners of properties seen as illegal in Chiclana are reported to have now agreed to pay the cost of basic services for their properties, such as tarmacking, sewerage, street lighting and water supply, to allow their homes to be brought into legality, under local ordinances set out by the Town Hall. Is it me or is the whole Spanish mess just plain stupidity brought by power. It feels as if the authorities are being heavy handed just because they can. |

I agree that we don´t mind the installation of a water supply and sewage removal but it has to be at a reasonable cost and I certainly don´t consider 50,000€ reasonable. We had our road tarmaced about 4 years ago, paying for it ourselves, and we don´t want street lights either and, as far as the sewage removal is concerned, the sewage plants we have at the moment can´t cope, particularly in the summer when La Barossa is filled with tourists. The article doesn´t mention those poor unfortunates who are living with a generator, or those who have had to fork out loads of money for solar and wind power, without which they wouldn´t have electricity to run the pump to get a water supply to shower in or to flush the toilet. Basic human rights comes to mind. It´s not the people that should be suffering here, it´s Junta, the Ayuntamiento, the developers, the lawyers and the notaries who turned a blind eye for years. They didn´t turn a blind eye though whilst taking the taxes and the fees that were payable by the purchaser. |

Re: It's still happening...
Hi jjh
You beat me to it; bt I would add that it started as a first payment of 5 euros a metre BUT WHICH committed you to pay for all other items in total. That 5€ has now become 6,000 to 12,000 expected 8,000€ FIRST PAYMENT. the 75 million they talk about is just for infrastucture. BUT they need 9 BILLION for a new sewage plant Pull, eyes wool comes to mind !!! Davexf |

No, not overlooked at all, I am fully aware that corrupt officials are rife (just like anywhere but more so in Spain). I am certainly not saying ALL of these people have not yet used common sense only to find they have been stitched up but I wonder how many of these reports we see could have been avoided if a little more research had been done before parting with their money?

Happy New Year to you all (even agoreira) :p Not likely, they know how long it takes for the system to work here so will take your money and leave you to worry about getting your mony back. |

Look on the link I gave, they are still advertising them for sale, have they said they are illegal and will the solicitor or anyone else involved in the sale let you know ?

There seems to be so much negativity coming from a handful of people on these forums lately (not aimed at you jdr) and it's mainly people who have returned to the UK as things haven't worked out for them. |
Re: It's still happening...
It is a nightmare and needs to be sorted out with proper and clear cut rules and regulations put in place.
The last house I rented was an illegal build, its up for sale and is still being rented out. Most good estate agents know which properties are and are not legal or which will or will not be made legal. An honest one wouldnt take it on their books, but how can you tell which estate agents are honest - the same with the abogados etc Jo xxx |
