With temperatures a cool 40 degrees in the shade this week, it was refreshing to hear that wonderful seasonal Summer sizzler 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!' playing triumphantly over the tannoy whilst we were browsing the sausage section in the supermarket tonight.
We can't decide if it was a genuine attempt to get the store into the Christmas mood early, or perhaps that the clown in charge of the in-store music had bought too much wine in the rebajas.
So, were we the first to spot the season change this year, or has Tesco in the UK beaten us to it and already started selling the 2009 Easter Egg collection?!

My favourite supermarket xmas carol ever was the 12 days of xmas, the instrumental version. I heard it in a Bristol super, years, nay decades ago, but it was so horrific that it is still imprinted on my brain.
If you don't believe me try singing it but just going dah-dah-dah. Long before it was done, I felt as tho my brains were melting and running out of my ears.

Christmas usually hits the stores in the Uk once the kids go back to school in the first week of September.... get rid of `Back to School` stuff and get the Christmas stuff on the shelves.
Marvellous, I don`t think.

Almost certainly doesn't know the full meaning, although in most cases a casual check in a Spanish-English dictionary or on babelfish would have revealed nothing untoward. English is a funny old language...

The most distressing thing is seeing some poor Spaniard walking down the street wearing a t-shirt purchased at said clothes shop with an equally uncut slogan on it.

a 15 year old we know had several t-shirts with 'hot & single' on them............until we explained to her uncle that the 'hot' was 'caliente' rather than 'calor'

I often suspect that a lot of the symbols you see as tattoos mean 'Stupid round eye' or something similar.

Ahh, xmas. The seasonal celebration of consumerism.
And a very merry Consumerism to you too!
Chorus of 'I'm dreaming of a racially integrated, non profit seeking xmas, just like the ones I never knew....'
