Default Its all gone wrong and I havnt even left yet :(

I think right now i really want to cry, now im over the initial shock though i keep getting flash backs.

Was in a car crash this morning going to work Was on the motorway going round a bend, it was like a slip road between two motorways, was just cruising at 70mph, following a ford ka when all of a sudden my car just lost all its grip on the road, back end just slipped out, i naturally hit the breaks, but nothing i can do. I looked up to see the crash barrier heading straight for me rather quickly. closed my eyes.. braced myself and SMASH, bounced off it and ended up on the hard shoulder facing the wrong way. I opened my eyes and couldnt believe I was OK. Not a scratch on me.

Take a look:

So thast the end of that car.. the car I was going to drive down to the costa del sol. If they fix it, its a £400 excess for me. But i think its written off. Ive had to rent another car to get me by which is costing £20 a day ive cancelled my ferry to Bilbao and only got like 50% of teh total cost back

Anyway whilst sat talking to Highway Patrol and waiting for recovery to come. I was thinking about what i'll do about spain. Infact to be honest the first thoughts that crossed my mind whilst in the spin was "SPAIN!!"

So guess im flying down there now. Found a flight on the same day for £40.99 and i guess ill go down, rent a car for a week, find a place to live and a job and do it that way. Get my NI number sorted out and then with what i get back for my car in the UK Ill buy one down there.
So im still going, just gonna do it a different way now. Would have loved to have had my car down there, it was a superb car, great engine, comfortable and i had more gadgets in it than you could imagine (ie a full in-car pc). ive been to visit the car in the compound and have removed everything from it. Just glad no one else was in the car and i didnt hit anyone else. How i didnt hit anyone else i have no idea.

So yeah really shook up, my necks hurting now and feel damn right aweful right now. need a hug.

Oh Andrew that is so awful! ((((((BIG HUGS)))))) But look on the bright side - you are ok and no-one else was injured. Glad you are still on track with your plans, slightly altered but you still have the determination to carry on. When you hire a car in Spain take extra care as some of the drivers out there seem to be on a death wish. Just as well you will be in a LHD and not your RHD as you should be a lot safer providing you take it easy. Now have a rest and relax, you are probably still in shock.

Look on the bright side though, it may be the last time you have to drive in shitty rainy weather!

Thank goodness you are OK, make sure you get yourself checked out, it's not how you feel today but in a few days time you could be feeling pretty bad.

Keep your spirits up and think this, things always happen for a reason, so just go with the flow.

Kama on it's way.

What a lucky escape you had, so glad that you are OK. Take it easy though because you will be suffering from shock and of course you will have flash backs especially at night so do not be surprised if you keep waking up.

So pleased that it is not going to stop you from following your plans to move to Spain.

Take care and Good Luck.

Sending loads of {{{hugz}}} and good thoughts your way Andrew.

Cars can always be replaced, but human lives cannot, so consider yourself very lucky that you were unharmed.

A bit of T Cut and some elbow grease and the car will be as good as new

Glad you're OK.

Looking at the traffic in the photo, how the hell did you manage to get up to 70mph in the first place?

Get it fixed and then sell it and buy another one problem solved. In fact get it fixed and sell it then fly to Spain and buy one second hand over there!

You were lucky, very lucky, suggest you buy a lotto ticket for Saturday pronto!

The traffic wasnt that bad when it happened. obviously facing the wrong way there was a lot of rubber nickers and also the highway agency said (who stayed with me the whole time bless em) said that there had been another accident up the road as well! So a really realy bad soggy morning in South Yorkshire.

On the upshot ive found a flight to malaga for £29 from Doncaster airport on the day I was taking the ferry. That kinda makes me feel better. (I booked it) P&O only gave me 50% back of my money that i booked on the ferry

If the cars written off ill get a cheque and then ill buy a little runabout in spain, really not bothered what i get. That car was £14,000 and i doubt id trust myself with something that expensive anymore, I was looking at buying a £20,000 seat leon cupra at the end of the year and part ex'ing that one in. But dont know now.. might still when i get over it.

Thanks for everyones kind words. Sadly tho bad things come in 3s, first it was finding out the mrs was messing me about.. now the car.. what next?

Look on the bright side, if you're destined to have a big one it's better to have it in the UK than Spain!

Thank god you're OK. A similar thing happened to me in rush hour on the A1 about 6 weeks ago. Swerved to miss an object on the road and lost control of my car. Managed to steer away from the central barrier then spun 360 degrees on the grass embankment and ended up at a standstill on the A1. Only just managed to pull the car off the road before someone hit me.

I know exactly how you feel. Take it easy. Sending you a hug.

I know it must have been a very frightening experience but surely you did not need more than one pair.
Seriously though I am really glad you are ok. Best of luck.
