I will be staying in the Torre Del Mar area for 6 months and would like internet and TV with at least BBC world service on it. Anyone know of deals about with a provider? Thanks.

BBC world service is available for free on many satellites, and even I think on internet.

Re: Internet and TV
I noticed some Ads in EWN/SUR offering Satellite UK TV with just an 80cm dish on the Costa del Sol.
Which Satellite are they using ( No internet / No Card) and what is the encryption?

Re: Internet and TV
It's the Intelsat 907 satellite, which is used as backup for the UK TV channels (BBC, ITV and C4) and also BBC radio channels.
It uses BISS encryption, but the codes are available on the Internet. They change the codes on average, every three months.
Quality is full HD and no Internet connection required. Typical cost of a new dish, receiver and installation is around €300.
On the south coast of Spain it is almost impossible to get the UK channels without an IPTV solution, so it is quite popular in that area. Further north it should be possible to still get the UK channels on the Astra satellites with a decent dish so Intelsat 907 is not a common solution outside the south.

OK thanks, I've got a few old modded Rxs around, I'll check up on BISS upgrades/firmware etc.

Re: Internet and TV
We were talking to a couple today who we sometimes see at the airport for return flights.
Their development has turned it sats round and uses the Intelsat service.
They are getting code changes on an average of every 6 weeks. The most recent this week when it took 24 hrs for their codes to be updated.

Every 6 weeks??????
And this week????
Something is not right there...
The last code change for intelsat was on the 12/12/14
Before that on the 26/11/14.
Before that on the 23/9/14.
They are being "done".

Re: Internet and TV
Like any satellite system you can get signal drop outs usually caused by the weather and that sometimes gives a "scrambled" message. We have had that in the last two days due to the rain.
About a week ago the signal suffered from the effects of the sun behind the satellite and we lost the signal for about 10 minutes around 3 pm for a few days. This happens to the Astra satellites around 11 am at this time of the year.
Apart from that there have been no problems and there certainly has not been a code change since early December.

Re: Internet and TV
I have an old modified Kenwood Sky RX with 4K channels which is reputed to work on BISS and an Echostar with 3 generations of Matrix Cams, I downloaded the BISS firmware for these. I have 2 dishes a 1.3 on 28E and a 1.0 on 13E, I guess a bracket to hold another LNB aimed at 27.5W is rather too much to ask.

But it may be possible to get both 28 and 13 on the "1.3", and then use the "1,0m" for 27 west?
(align the "1.3" to 28 east, and then attach the bracket of the 13 lnb - should just about work, given 13 is a strong signal.

Re: Internet and TV
Not all receivers can receive Intelsat 907 as is has a 44100 symbol rate which is above the range of most older receivers. You can buy suitable receivers for under €100.
