Hi All
We are moving to Andalucia in February, to a rented house for at least 6/7 months while we continue to look for a house to purchase.
The house has no landline and therefore we are looking at options for both mobile and internet at the house to stay in touch and maybe get some tv & streaming.
I am going to buy an unlocked smart phone (mine is an iPhone 3gs on it's last legs, so a good excuse for a treat) as I think this will give us more freedom in contracts etc.
I had looked at Movistar Fusion but as there is no land-line, may use the smart phone as the main source of communications until we are settled and so may need to get separate contracts for mobile and internet.
We will be renting in Periana near lake Vinuela and will probably also buy within 50 - 60 ams of here.
What are folks using?
What is your experience of BB4S, Iberabanda, Movistar etc.and are you in this area?
Is satellite dead now everyone streams?
I have read a little about getting a UK ip address with some but when I looked at the BB4S site it states that you need to be a home owner or established resident to get their service?

When last in AndalucÃa I used my Movistar mobile and reception was very good in e.g. Granada and Malaga. However Periana is quite remote and I expect mobile reception may be poor. I would suggest you ask neighbours and / or EA for recommendation.
Depending on your provider, I expect internet streaming via a mobile phone would be slow and could be very expensive. I would recommend a dedicated internet dongle where you pay circa 2€ per day.
Satellite is still very much alive and is still the preferred option for most expats.

It may be no good to you, but from 1/4/15, the UK 3 network will allow you to use their Uk payg tariff in Spain. An all you can eat data plan is £15 per month!
Which is very cheap if you're abroad and use internet a lot.
I'm only a regular holiday maker to Spain and use a Mifi dongle with orange.es on payg, which is 15e for 2gb for 30 days.
The Mifi dongle allows you to connect upto 8 devices at any one time and is wifi through mobile telephone network, and is obviously portable, so you can use it at the beach etc.
You can buy a Mifi off the internet for about £40.

Wimax the choice here. Faster, more reliable and cheaper than landline, mobile or satellite internet.
But we have mountains - and that's kind of important for Wimax. The antennas need to have line-of-sight.

I did look at 3 but we're in Spain before April. I suppose I can use something else until it's up and running to see how it goes.
Mifi also needs some more time - if only I wasn't spending nearly every moment filling boxes!
