It's not easy to understand as the one about internet (telefonica) is not in English. Don't they have an English version in their site?
Also some of the link in the FREE BEER, is not working like "British Embassy NIE aplication" - that link gives a "404 NOT FOUND" error.

Yes that's what I read about telefonia but after reading all the posts in that thread about which is the best internet company, I'm still not sure which is the best, cheaper & reliable company. Anyone living in the alicante area, please recommend a cheap, good & reliable internet company.

Well I live in the Alicante area and to be honest have stuck with Telefonica - listened to a lot of talk from other Companies but at the end of the day you still need their line - we have had no problems with them and that includes transfering or account down here in Jauary this year from north Costa Blanca.

I think this question has already been answered.
For the normal Telefonica ADSL 3mb/sec service including the rental of a line and telephone it is about 70€ a month with no charges for calls within Spain.
Telefonica also have a slightly cheaper ADSL option at a lower speed with a download limit at about 10€ a month less (ADSL DUO MINI).
They also have introductory offers where it is much cheaper for the first few months and then reverts to the normal charges. Also, if you order online through their website they have special offers giving you a free router etc.
A number of their competitors advertise services which, at first, seem very much cheaper or faster, but these services are often geographically limited to only the major cities and often are time limited - like for the first 3 months.
Whether we like it or not, Telefonica still have the monopoly on the provision of telephone services to most of the country (there are exceptions where cable services are available) and if you sign up with one of their competitors for ADSL you will always have the potential problem of fault resolution if it goes wrong - by that I mean that if the ADSL service goes down, your ISP will claim it is the Telefonica line, and Telefonica will claim that it is the router that your (non Telefonica) ISP provided.
If you want a (comparatively) easy and stress free life then, I am sad to say, Telefonica is really the only sensible option.

2 mes GRATIS
Cuota final: 29,90 €/mes
So 1 mb adsl and all phone calls in Spain, conection free. first 2 months free. Doubt it includes a router. It would be plus iva ie about €33 a month

I know that I will be accused of putting the mockers on this, but, you cannot assume that where you choose to live will automatically have landline telephones!

Thanks for your explanation. I think it's still expensive for both internet & telephone.

If you go with anyone else that uses Telefonicas lines and you have a problem then you are just making it twice as hard to sort out the problem.
Telefonica do not take kindly to competition and make it as hard as they can for them.

So does everyone, but there are no other cheaper ways as Telefonica has set the standard and others will only drop a few €`s.

"Telefonica" is the national telecommunications company of Spain.
"Telefonica in English" is a private company that hosts their website on easyspace in the UK
They charge you an up-front fee to 'process your application' i.e. fill in the forms and pop them in the post.http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...=362846&page=5
