Interesting idea for annual car tests.

As we all know if you live for less than six months in another EU country you can use your car from country of origin with no legal problems. However the car must also have any annually imposed taxes paid up to date. Other things that you need to insure is that it is insured and the annual test (if needed) is up to date too. There lies the problem if it is due whilst you are temporary away from your country of residence how do you obtain that important annual test for your car? at the moment you have to return home.
What the Dutch government has done is ask certain testing stations in Belgium to undertake the annual tests for Dutch visitors. And now the Dutch are looking to expand the scheme to cover Spain too. That will save the Dutch having to return back to The Netherlands if the car test is needed. The Dutch minister, Camiel Eurlings, says it will not be easy to integrate some sort of testing felicity in Spain. He also acknowledges there are steps to have one testing system to cover the EU but that is a long way off.
So if you want to stay in Spain for less than 6 months and you want to save a trip back to blighty then you should start petitioning Mr. Brown or Mr. Hoon

PS this will also be available to truckers and will reduce the cost of transporting goods

It's a terrible idea and should be stamped on immediately!
If it happens this forum could die overnight through lack of "UK MOT" threads.

Hi Casa Santo Estevo,
As I am in Spain, then yes I can usually comprehend what is being said. English likewise.
I would expect any link to be in one of those two languages from a link. I would NOT expect to have to be fluent in any other language in a forum for Spain.
Sorry if it upsets you but I think a valid comment

Not that anyone seems to take much notice judging from the amount of British plated, no tax disk cars I see driving around
