I leave mine looking as grubby as possible both inside and out, but I'd draw the line at deliberately trashing the bodywork.
The insides looks filthy but pull the raggy covers to one side and they're as new.
I have a six year old one still like new, which is now a spare and has never been properly washed once apart from lights and windscreen.

Having been through the flash stage quite a few years back in the UK, I now have two highly reliable Korean jobs incl the security of a spare for less than the cost of one of those look at me penis extentions.

Penis extensions on a Korean job? It's not their fault, but they've all got tiny dicks out there.

No I don't consider the Korean jobs to be anything like penis extensions, far from it, though they have upped the quality and styling quite a bit in recent years.
As for their dicks, I haven't a clue, not interested, nor in their stick insect females either.

A local Spanish businessman used to drive around in a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce and lived in a mansion nearby. They got to him, broke in, tied up his bodyguard and tortured him to open the safe. He and his wife never recovered from their ordeal, they are both dead now.

One here a bit closer. British woman 53 held at knife point whilst other man ransacked the house. They threatended to cut off her thumb that they had already cut. This was in Pizarra. People do really need a dog!

I agree. If you attract the attention of one of those professional Eastern European gangs, like those former Albanian secret service agents now doing the rounds, you would have no chance.

I don't even have a safe, but if I did, I would need no prompting to give them the combination.

HBG, I think you misunderstood. :-)

CMan is one who consistently claims that so much of the well-known undesirable behaviour here doesn't actually exist in the first place. In fact in some of his very early posts he seemed to deny there is any significant division between "haves" and "have-nots" at all. And any suggestion that there is criminal activity or unethical behaviour here seems to met with the ROFL icon (well, I suppose everything gets a ROFL icon).

Anyway, in addition he's historically exhibited what seems to be jealousy and spite for those who might "have something more" than he does (the "haves"). In his view, it appears that most of the world's problems are either caused by those greedy impoverished Americans, or anyone in possession of, or in pursuit of anything resembling "wealth" (note deliberate irony here).

Now he seems to be suggesting that he's actually one of the "haves" that exemplify all that's wrong with this world (such as you, HBG), and he would indeed like to "have" a nice car, but instead, because of the jealous "have nots" (which previously didn't exist), he is forced to buy a modest car and wreck it so that it won't be "wrecked" by those vile and disgusting "have nots" that previously didn't exist. (note irony again).

Just sayin'.

Something like a lion for instance.

Eventually it ended up in the animal rescue centre at Guadalest.

Now I could see the point of having one of those. I'm fed up of seeing adverts for rescue dogs that say what lovely temperaments they have and how good they are with children. What I'd like is one that's as mean as hell but I never see one of those on offer.

One couple who used to live near me were burgled during the night and their dog which was inside the house never made a sound. Useless animal would have been on it's way to the rescue centre the next morning if it had been mine!

To widen the discussion, slightly, I'm a resident alien enjoying my life among those lovely and tolerant Spanish people. It's Saturday night and I'm indoors because I've got the T-shirts for venturing out and causing havoc.

If I wanted to, I could walk to venues where I could sing my heart out on karaoke machines, I could dance the night away in places that don't close, I could have romantic meals from every continent in the world, I could get pissed with fellow expats watching football or snooker, I'm on the stairway to heaven as long as the exchange rate and my liver holds out.

Some posters proudly speak of immersing themselves in Spanish life in a village in the middle of nowhere. I think they've got a screw loose.

Re: Incomers.....

Well, it takes all sorts. I'd go out of my way to avoid karaoke joints or watching football/snooker, but nor would I want to live in a tiny village. Luckily there are lots of places that fall somewhere in between the two!

This resident alien is quite happy living in a large town (capital of the Axarquia), pretty much everything I need is within walking distance of my house and I have a half-hourly bus service to Malaga so I can get to the railway station or airport very easily for trips further afield. 10 minutes to the coast by car or 15 minutes by bus if I wanted to go to the beach. Complete lack of karaoke bars though (afaik!).

Yeah and me, must be great having to worry about all the break ins you could have, and all the p..s heads and yobs keeping you from strolling around at night. Then in the day time it's all the noisy traffic and kids r...sing about shouting and balling with bad language, I miss in bigger places.

Other simple things I miss too, are having to Que for the doctors for ages, I hate just walking in and knocking his door, and it's awful having more than 8 minutes or so for an appointment and then there is the prescription I used to pay for, then there was the cheapest drugs available, I used to get. I think Free TV piped to every house and subsidised Internet here is dreadful. I hate it too, that the locals know me and trust me, I also hate it that they all know me and have even given me a new name and treat me friendly and like one of them, and often give me gifts like fruit and simple things, and there's more....

Oh I do wish I had done some research before buying.:rofl::rofl:

It does take all sorts and the world's a happier place for it. I'm a city boy and would wilt in the country.

I've just come back from visiting my daughter who lives in the country in the UK. I've watched ducks taking off in the early morning, pheasants walking along fearfully, a cat walking along with a mouse in its mouth, pigeons trying to evade the heroes with shotguns trying to shoot them down, and rabbits being chased by fast dogs.

The beauty of the place astounded me, but when I touched down at Alicante airport I knew that I was back home. I might be an alien, but if I dyed my hair black and got those things to turn my eyes brown, and shrunk, they wouldn't know the f'ucking difference, would they?

An expatriate (in abbreviated form, expat) is a person temporarily or permanently residing in a country and culture other than that of the person's upbringing. The word comes from the Latin terms ex ("out of") and patria ("country, fatherland").

I always thought that I wasn't an expat as I was only a 3 month on 3 month off visitor. Oh well how the mighty are fallen:D:D:D

I do seem to recall a similar thread to this about 4 years ago where the Yanks got the blame for being expats in the 18th century.

It's a nice phrase, no hay tu tía, that's the way it is written nowadays, but originally it was no hay tutía, so hasn't really got anything to do with tía.
