Yes - the two we brought out with us died about 4 years later aged 14 & 16 and we'd always said that when they went we'd have no more so we were free to travel when & where we liked. Six years later and we now have six rescue dogs and 4 cats - 1 rescued from the village and the other 3 just appearing after, I suspect, being dumped on our land by people knowing us soft Brits live here!

We are also involved in short term fostering of dogs that have been found homes in Germany, Holland, Austria and Scandinavia by the respective charities and are waiting for flights to be arranged :)

(And no, despite living less than 2 hours from Granada, we still haven't been able to visit the Alhambra!)

Alhambra is centuries old, it can wait a while for you, out of season is better less queueing, can take you time and immerse yourself in it.
I don't believe we build anythign now for "life" just for the next 20 years.

Can't wait too long though as we're starting to get old & decrepit! We plan to do it next Feb/March when, hopefully, it'll be warm but not too warm and the spring flowers will be out. We want to stay at least one night but our neighbour will be happy to feed the menagerie for us.

the Hotel Alexaries (abt €45\night) is just across the road from the Alhambra, nice rooms, good in house restaurant, but...plenty down the hill (don't go to the Plaza Nuevo). Its actually higher up so good clean air, no noise, a viewpoint allows you to look down on part of the city. You can walk down the very steep hill to the city centre but will need to take the "noddy" bus back
