Can anyone tell me what we need, other than money! to take to the office by Laguna square to make our first ever payment?
I understand that someone there does speak some English.
Do we both have to be there?

Hi, take your address, NIE and or passport or both. You wont pay at the office, you will receive two bills, to take to a selection of banks. Don't go before July 1st, they wont give you the bill before that date. Then you can pay any time before end September. Yes, the guy speaks a little English. But even so, if you bring your paperwork, the lady will give you your bill,,, after July 1st that is! And if you want you can set up DD for next year, the bills have a section at the top to fill in.

sorry Alice but the opening date is JUNE 1st. I collected all of my bills on that date IBI, Basura (rubbish), EUC and car tax. Have done each year for the past few years, last week they all came again in the post! Manolos English gets better each year and he is very patient so you won't have a problem but your NIE AND ADDRESS should suffice, queues will not be bad if you go early say 10.30.

That's super, there you go Xfiles. Make sure you go on June 1st,,,,,,oh , it's already 30th,, shame you missed the June 1st opening date for all your bill. No worries, next year you can be there on June 1st just like Esuri John said. And you can chat all you want to the guy because his English gets better every year, super. You'll have no problems then.
It appears that the opening date must have changed in recent years as it used to be July 1st. And as it's always great to have updated information it is nice to share. After all, thats the nature of any forum.
Maybe don't need the condescending "I know best attitude" , but as is ever evident on here, Esuri John always knows best; no fear, we all know our place !....
P's X files, don't forget to bring your NIE and address and when you are standing in a queue of five to seven people at 9.30, think of Esuri John who said the queue won't start till after 10.30. Super....

Hola Xfiles, you will soon find that Spain is a country of habits one of the strangest is to arrive at work at a bank or tax office or town hall and then go out for breakfast. Also the large queues form at the end of payment periods or at month end when people have cash in their accounts. From many hours spent queuing I have noted habits and Manolo arrives for work just before 10.00 leaves his coat and goes for breakfast till about 10.30. So I arrive about ten check if he is in that day take a coffee at Pepi's and get back when he returns from breakfast. If the queues are really bad they use a ticket system and you take a ticket on the left wall when you enter and look up at the number counter for your turn. At the bank it is a little different the last one in says "ultimo" the last in the queue identifies himself then you judge if you can go and collect something before it comes to your turn. Just observing.
