I have found a mosquito repellent that works!
Hi I have just returned from my holiday home in Benitachell after three weeks and not had one bite!
The last time I was there I was eaten alive until a Spanish friend told me what spray to buy its called cusitrin and believe me it works.I bought it from our local chemist 10 euro and you spray it on your pulse points it lasts for 12 hours the makers claim although I did it twice a day.

Found the stuff on line but they wont tell me any active ingredients, except to say it works for up to 6 hours. Spray on pressure points? what happens next? sounds a bit dodgey to me. If it works on the west highland " biting" midges, you will make a fortune!!!

Repelentes de Insectos
- Cusitrin antimosquitos adulto (20% deet)
- Cusitrin antimosquitos forte (45% deet)
- Cusitrin antimosquitos infantil (12% IR3535)
If Deet is the active ingredient, there are other repellents that have higher concentrations such as this one at 97%:

For midges, apparently you need bog myrtle: Midge repellent - Stop Bite with bog myrtle, repels biting insects.

Re: I have found a mosquito repellent that works!
I have just come back from a week in Rome, then a week visiting friends and family in Salou, south of Barcelona.
Got bitten by a Roman mosquito on the left leg, and Spanish mosquitos on the right leg.
I have yet to find a repellent that works.
Aftercare, simply take plenty of Ibuprofen during your stay and this minimises the swelling and itching, washed down with Estrella of course.

Is DEET not risky stuff?
