16C in my casa and in the car the same.
There is of course a technical limit to the amount of heat the air con system can remove from a given space. Even set at 16 the house system works for ages to bring the house down to less than 25. Which is as it was conceived. One split unit to cool the whole house down is asking a lot.

Who needs air con?
What's wrong with strategically placed fans? Save a fortune on your leccy bill.

Even with fans billgates, I dont sleep well if the bedroom is over 25C and when the air outside at midnight is around 30C the air con is a boon. Money well spent in terms of purchase and running costs in my opinion.

If you set up something to mist water into the fan air stream, it's a lot cooler.
There is a lot you can do to cool things without paying thru the nose.

The Regina Hotel in Sevilla has a super internal courtyard about 5 stories deep which is shaded by canopies drawn across at roof level and a central fountain which is a fine spray and tinkles onto the pond. Just to listen makes you feel cooler but the water mist really does help. All this is very Moorish and the prime example is the Alhambra!

The moors understood how to cool areas down. Looking at their strategies can be very rewarding.

If you have some canvas screens up, wet them with a fine bore pipe, and that will give a down flow of cooler air.
