We have a very slow Orange ADSL, Just tested it Download speed is varying between 500KBs to 600KBs, 3rd world!!! Supposed to be 20MBs My son's rural wifi in Italy guarantees 2MBs.

Thats the same as we got with 6mb Telefonica (land line). At our old office, we paid a fortune to Telefonica for 20mb contract, never got more than 2mb.

But we switched to WIMAX with a 7mb contract, and consistently get 8mb per all the usual speed tests.

...and it works when raining.

I think we need to re-examine the possibilities, for the last 6 wks it has been lousy. Even this causes problems with typing. I got a mail today from Orange about 4G. What 4G ? OK LTE, there is only one LTE site in Torremolinos according to the local shop. Not much with 20000+ Iphones and Samsung 5s and 6s etc. Sharing 70MB x 3 or 4 ? not a lot to go around.
Who is the WIMAX operator?

It is worth checking whether a better Orange router would improve matters. For example the Livebox 2 ZTE does not work at all well on a line with a weak signal and will either not synchronise at all, drops the line regularly or syncs at a very low speed. The best router Orange ever produced is the Livebox 2 Pro V2.

If you don't need VOIP then Netgear do some good routers too. Personally I just buy the Livebox Pro V2 secondhand over the internet for around €30 (at Priceminster for example). I have sent the original router Orange gave me back to them so don't pay the monthly rental for it anymore.

If you go this route it is worth getting two Liveboxes in case you lose one in a storm. Configure the first one, back it up and restore the configuration to the second one so it's ready to use.

I'm contracted with Teletec for a wireless 4mb service and have had just over 3mb on a few occasions and that has been very very rare.
Just checked and it's 1.2. Last evening I was trying, as I do, to listen to some streaming music but it was impossible as it often is. Did several speed tests on my PC and got no result higher than 0.45 (yes 0.45!). The lowest was 0.14!
Completely fed up with constant contact with technical support as nothing really improves.
Have been in contact with company called Blu who advertise in the Euro Weekly News - 10Mb (9.95) + LINE RENTAL (14.95) – 24.90€ plus iva per month. Also Free installation. Too good to be true?
Unsure though as I know absolutely nothing about them.
Anyone out there does?
