Default How do I find a long term let?

Does anyone have any ideas how to find a long term rental country house/villa in the Alicante/Murcia region? I have responded to several 'possibles' from Kyero,Thinkspain and several websites but am now wondering if there is much point, as most of my enquiries go unanswered or when they do, the property has been withdrawn/let etc. The three I have managed to view, through Brit agents, bear no resemblance to the advertised details and I would not let my dog live in one them - it is so disappointing driving many miles to find such poor accommodation at very inflated prices (There can be up to 60% p/c/m difference in identical properties). Don't even mention Spanish websites, I have sent off 5 or 6 emails and not had the common courtesy of one acknowledgement - you wouldn't think we were in a recession judging by the lack of enthusiasm demonstrated. Any ideas or better still, details of a house min 3 beds with pool, within 40 mins of the coast would be very welcome indeed

Hi sorry can't help with your area I am having the same problems where I am looking. I had 10 days driving round the area I want, taking the numbers of any I liked the look of and called them. I also found 3 agencies and got them to look also, they ignored most of my tick list, showed me plenty places and then one agent lost me the house I wanted.

You would think they would be looking for tenants and keen to let but not much evidence of it.

I gave up with on line agencies, half of them don't actually have any long term rentals even though they advertise they do, most search options are ignoerd when you do the filter for bed rooms bathrooms and type. arghhhhh I do not want a flaming apartment.

Good luck with your search.

If you have any Spanish at all and you want to live in a Spanish village. I'd advise going into the village and asking at the bar! You can get places a lot cheaper and If you think the locals will rip you off, believe me the Agents will rip you off more! I'm afraid we're over an hour from the coast so I can't help you but there's plenty available around here and I'm guessing at under 400 euros a month you could get a full house round here.

sorry but taking the title of another thread, are there any real Estate Agents,
so many are just websites of websites, they are not "in-country", take no responsibility.
Replying to emails or onsite contact pages isnt exactly being proactive but they have no idea how it annoys the potential client as this in many cases is the only method of contact.

when the BH was looking last year she had a shopping list of minimums to be met and got walked round places that were so off the list from people desperate to make a sale, even when totally unsuitable.

one place was in need of a rebuild before anyone would consider it, another was a holiday rental that was in the middle of nowhere, no access, someone would have to be really desperate to consider. When asking for a property that would have 3-4 bedrooms why show a bedsit?

but it is a "job" for the expat that comes out here with no language, no job, which is why they seem so desperate.

regrettably, the same can apply when looking to buy a property - ignoring the shopping list out of desparation.

That sounds like good advice. Even in a place like Madrid you can see paper sheets advertising places to rent or to buy, on street lampposts or at the main entrance to an apartment block.
