Hose pipe use during summer months.
#1

Can anyone give guidelines as to using a hose pipe from mains water during the summer or anytime for that reason.

Just thought I'd say hi since no-one's answered your question! We would use hose pipes whenever we chose, but very very carefully because of the well camera-equipped helicopters which occasionally do the rounds. Mind you we absolutely don't - honestly - abuse the use of water besides we probably save the ayuntamiento as much as we use in the summer because of all the stillages we have from the rainwater off the roof!

I've asked a Spanish friend and he just laughed - he's never heard of such a daft thing!

I was told it is illegal and one could be fined for using a hose to wash a car. Is that another urban myth?

I only asked this because Id heard it was illegal during the summer. Our last house was on an urb and we cleaned the car watered the garden etc all year round. But we live in the town now and the guardia often park opposite our house.Just dont want a run in with them...if you get my drift.

I have no idea if it's true - but it explains all the dirty cars in summer!!

It's only illegal if your area has declared an official drought and imposed certain conditions like no car washing or pool filling.
Bearing in mind that most of the reservoirs are overflowing after the winter rain I don't think it will be a problem for some time.

I always figure that the time to wash a car is when the dirt starts to affect the mpg.
