Holiday in Spain
#1
We have friends in Australia who would like to rent in the Oliva area for up to 6 months for a holiday.
Would they be able to buy a cheap 'ish' car for that period and sell it after without NIE or a Padron. rather than hire ?
Also would it be safer to hire through a recognised agent as opposed to privately ?

Honestly I do not think that would work.Bear in mind the registration process almost revolves around those documents and has been 'tightened up' of late as a result of the increase in 'busted by post' cameras and technology. Obviously that doesn't apply to vehicles temporarily in Spain, but I see the question applies to Australians so that won't work either of course!

Thanks for your info guys, it's as I expected but wasn't too sure. I guess that would put them off as to hire a car for any length of time would be too expensive.

Depending on the time of year some hire car companies offer very reasonable one month "rolling" contracts - check -in once a month and then carry on. Certainly much less hassle and probably cheaper than trying to buy and resell a car

I think the 90 day rule will be the biggest issue
