hifi speakers

Hi, I am looking for a particular make of sterio speakers. I have tried ammazon, play.com. pixmania and worten without success. I live near fiengirola although I can purchase on-line anywhere in spain. Can anyone please let me know of a hifi supplier. Thanks

Re: hifi speakers

It would help if you said make and model you require.

Look for your nearest Media Markt . http://www.mediamarkt.es/

Richer Sounds may be able to supply? > http://www.richersounds.com/

Don't think that Richer will. I ordered a Cambridge amp from them via Amazon and they would only ship to the UK.

Can't you just put the speaker make/model into google and suppliers/prices would normally appear in the results

More info?
Your question is like asking where are there any car dealers without mentioning the make/model!
Unless you've 'road tested' the speakers yourself or read reviews I would NEVER buy them on-line without doing so. Even reviews are subjective especially with speakers. You need to listen to them. Have you?
Hope that 'sterio' (sic) is a typo.

Re: hifi speakers

Hi Guys, thank you all for the advice. The speakers I want are" Q Acoustics 2010i" bookshelf speakers.
I have tried the manufacturers web site for details of suppliers but no luck.
I have tried amazon france, spain and germany without any luck.
There are some suppliers in the uk but given the weight of stereo speakers the postage is prohibitive.
I have heard these speakers so am happy just to buy on-line. Any suggestions
will be most welcome. Thanks.

These are available on Amazon UK http://tinyurl.com/altzj6c

They have them showing as free supersaver delivery, which normally means that they will ship to Spain for at no cost.

I was going to buy a pair of tannoy's also on supersaver delivery, but by the time I got around to actually buying them that option had gone. So still looking for wall mount speakers....

OK, these speakers, which to me seem quite ordinary, are £112.50 a pair from Richer Sounds. They weigh 3.5kg each. so allow up to 10kg for packing. at that weight it must have one hell of a winding and shielding in the drive units, the rest looks quite normal production.

surely you have someone in the UK who will carry out the transaction for you ??
but be prepared about the same or more for shipping to Spain.

quite honestly I can see no reason for such expenditure on what must be an end of line product (that is the Richer Sounds policy, buy things at the end of production run. once its gone its gone for ever)

The Q Acoustics website shows the following Spanish Dealer
Spain
EAR SA
JUNDIZ 24
POLIGONO INDUSTRIAL DE JUNDIZ
01015 VITORIA
00 34 945 141110
00 34 945 131953
[email protected]
www.ear.es

so suggest you have a look at them and see if you can get a source local to you or a shipment within Spain

I have to be honest and say that as bookshelf speakers, unless the driver is really something out of the ordinary that no one has ever sourced before then you may want to do a comparison test in a test environment.
years ago I did one knowing I wanted Leak speakers, all it did was confirm that they were really the bees knees, and bought a pair but as the Leak 3000 were used in the set for Mike Gambit's flat in The New Avengers (opposite Joanna Lumley) you would expect them to be a little bit extra. They whooped the pants off every other speaker I tested as they had the bass/middle forward of the treble in the construction.

I worked for Tannoy designing Public Address systems - go with them, they may be the Hoover of the LS business but with just cause.
our agent in Saudi moved heaven and earth to get matched pairs, which he sold at a stonking profit - when he didnt use them as free gift bargaining chips.

Hi bob_day, thanks for that. Amazon show "Q Acoustics 2010i" and" Q20101"
The former is a fairly new model which came out last year. "20101 is the preceding model. Same price but from different suppliers. A bit confusing.

Re: hifi speakers

One of the reasons some products are not available or hard to get hold of in certain countries is that the manufacturers enter into exclusive agreements with agents in certain countries.

when working for Tannoy there was an agent in Saudi, he had agreed an import quantity and did not exceed that - it made the product like golden eggs, hard to get! and only through him.
but then he also took responsibility for the warranty of the product whilst it was in his country.

some agents within their agreements are entitled to a royalty payment/commission for all such product entering the country, no matter what route they come in by.

restrictive practices? yes, but still happens.

Oops didn't spot that.

They also have the 'i' http://tinyurl.com/aqta9p6

Alternatively I reckon you can get them shipped to Spain by UPS or parcelforce for under 30 quid. see parcel2go.co.uk for quote. I guessed at 500 x 50 x 50 as the package size and 10kgs.

Given that over here the opportunity to audition speakers is pretty limited what would be you recommendation for wallmount/Bookshelf speakers in the £200-£300 range?

I'm back in the UK for a few days at the end of Jan and hopefully will be able to audition a few select models at my local hifi shop.

Bob
sound is subjective - to the individual, identical music source can sound different to each person
I prefer more bass than the BH, but then I have never liked the tinny sound of some music.

You need to check that you get depth with your speakers, not just a front of stage sound in "stereo". It is only "depth" that can give you the true feeling of the recording.
I used to have a disc that played a guy talking whilst walking to the 4 corners of the room and if you have the right speakers and the correct polarity on the leads you can hear the difference.

you may well have to go into Malaga to get the full service, but Spain isnt a backward atoll in the Pacific, there are the places - just not round the corner from you.

Hi Bob, Are you looking for a 2.0, 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1 system. Do you already have an amp. Are the speakers required just for music or perhaps to replace your tv`s own built in speakers.
