Default Help please. Problem with wasps drinking in our pool!

Do any of you have this problem - wasps come to drink in our pool, they usually drink on the steps, they are there all day, any recommendations to make them disappear? Thanks again.

Tell them if they want a drink , they gotta buy a meal

Have you got enough clorine in it ?

Garlic keeps mozzies away, try leaving some crushed in a bowl near the steps.

Pool Chlorine level is great, hubby looks after that.
I knew about garlic and mozzies, will try to put a sign saying "happy hour 12-4pm" (??)

Seriously - any tips about resolving this problem - much appareciated.

You could always try what we used to do as kids to trap wasps. Get hold of a couple of empty jars and put a spoonful of jam in them. Half fill with water and cover the tops with some paper secured by an elastic band. Make a hole in the paper big enough for the wasps to enter and place these near the steps. The wasps will find the jars irresistible. Once in there they will not be able to leave and you end up with a jar full of dead wasps.

Not very PC these days But I can guarantee they will rather go for the water in the jars rather than your pool.

BW.

You probably have a wasp nest nearby, find it and get rid of it, I beleive there are people who do that sort of thing.

whatever you do dont waste your money on those wasp traps, we put one near the pool and instead of being filled with wasps it was chocka with wasps.
I was told that wasps love the water moving about soooooo put your hose near the pool and just let it trickle, that should do the trick or get a bat.
good luck

Thanks a lot to all.

We have been looking around the garden for wasps nests to no avail....
will have to try the jam-trap even if it is against my principles.

Cheers!

Look just under the edge of the roof tiles all around the house. That's where we found one. The one we had wasn't very big but had loads of wasps in it. Good luck. :scared:

We do check the edge of our tiles nearly every day since we have moved in we found new nests being created nearly every day and destroy them.

Managed to follow the flight of a couple of the wasps from the pool and they actually seem to go onto the next plot which has almonds trees.I think our pool is the only source of water for a couple of miles.

As soon as I found an empty jar(?) typical never find one when you need one, I will try what was suggested.

Funny last summer we only had one wasp drinking in our pool, we did think that it was a very thirsty wasp, acutally it could have been a whole nest coming one a time to drink!! Clever heh!!
