Default Help needed..

Hi there, HELP WANTED URGENTLY!!!!!
My friend Jean who lives in Puerto Rico (she has lived here many years) has just lost her husband Derek (they are English) to Cancer. He passed away on Sunday and she has to find 2,000 euros FAST to bury him here in Gran Canaria. Can anyone help to raise some funds for her? We can deliver posters and cans for the monies and also collect at any time.
All donations really appreciated.
Would anyone like to set up places in bars, restaurants, shops etc with posters and cans where people can donate?
Please ask all your friends to help.
We will be in the DOWN UNDER bar on 2nd floor of Centro Comercial Puerto Rico this evening Tuesday 4th September from 7 to 9pm and Thursday the 6th 7-9pm if anyone would like to meet, donate, collect posters and cans or discuss this further. Jean will be with us so you can meet her.
My name is Lisa, Mobile: Email: [/email] or contact via Facebook. This is extremely serious and very urgent. Thanking you all so much. .................................................. Tommy .Irene here and im looking advice to give to this woman ..thankyou

it can cost way more than that - my dad's cremation was over 5,000 € last year

that did include several different urns & reliquaries though

& storage while my brother decided whether or not he could be bothered to get on a plane

I think funerals are an expensive item whether here in Spain or in the UK. My Dad's, just over 5 years ago, cost over £2,000 and it was not a big affair, only the undertaker's fee (the hearse and one limousine) and a donation to the church funds. It didn't include the cost of a cemetery plot as he was buried with my mother, nor the cost of additional engraving on the headstone. That didn't include the cost of caterers for the reception afterwards, either, and if his rugby club had not kindly invited us to use one of their function rooms free of charge, room hire would have had to be paid for as well.

do they do that in Puerto Rico?? I looked into it here in the UK. it's quite complicated, and it's only free if you tell them that no one will claim the body, and the institutions can keep it for years before they use it. I'll look at the forms again and update tomorrow. Jan

The father of a friend of ours died here in Spain last year, and he had left his body to medical science so they had no funeral expenses to pay. It was to the University of Malaga, I think.

She should also make sure that she checks all the paperwork very carefully someone in our family did not notice that the date was different on one piece of paper within the paperwork pile and it really complicated sorting out the estate.
It is possible in Spain to get insurance against your death, Its called Decesos and covers an official to do all the paperwork, your time in the Tanatoria and their services and your burial or cremation.
