help!! family moving to alicante!!!
hello all.
we (my wife and 2 boys ages 2+3yrs) want to move to alicante early in the new year. we have no ties here in the uk (no property etc) and have been talking about it for far too long now. We intend on long term renting our new home at least for a year anyway.(villa, town house, aptmt,we are flexible)
I will be keeping my job on the rigs in the north sea and travelling to/from aberdeen every 2 weeks.
Were looking to put our 2 boys into a local spanish school/nursery. is there anyone who has "made the move" with children simler ages who could give us any advise on schooling? Living in Alicante? Where's best? Things to consider? etc etc...this list go's on. Any help would be appreciated
thank you, and hope to chat soon.

you already know my opinion & it's well documented on here - these discussions have been known to get very heated!

Hmm...not too sure yet......
what ever is best for my kids growing up!! i havnt really looked at any locations.
Were after somewhere close to the coast/intnl airport within 30 min drive/safe for the kids/and ideally some english (or scottish for that matter) familys for my wife to mix with while i work away. (rigs..2weeks on/off)
Any ideas?

Hmmm. For me, my advice is that it's really a no-brainer. Put your children into state school as soon as possible! At their ages they will just soak up the language and culture.
Because they are so young, if in a few years time it really isn't for you, then they've lost nothing but gained a lot.
As to area, have a think about Cost Blanca North Valencia airport is very good and there are some really good areas up here as well.

That's my opinion, but my angle on this not State v International. Of course the child should be in contact with the Spanish language, just not in a state school.
Anyway if there is one thing the forums do prove, it's that people are very defensive about their decision to spend as little as possible on their children's education.

Choose your school carefully and it can be as good as any. My eldest now attends a secondary school run by nuns. It's still a state school but has an excellent reputation for both results and for the way children are brought up to respect others etc. etc. (lost the right words, sorry )
