Default Help advise needed Car accident

We are holidaying in spain at the moment. Friday we were leaving a supermarket carpark and was hit by a spanish car who pulled out straight into us, We exchanged details has we would in the UK neither of us could understand what the other was saying , we informed our insurance company, we have now been told from a friend that the police should have been called , my wife visited the medical center has her neck was hurt in the collision but we now feel in limbo not sure what to do next can anybody advise. Thankyou

First off you both should fill in one of these forms at the time of the accident. Yes the police should have been called.
Yours will be in English the other drivers in their language. The forms are easy to fill out. More details here.
Going on what you posted neither of you filled out the forms. I would suggest you talk to the insurance company ASAP. I would not like to second guess what any insurance company will do.

Thankyou for your reply we haven't got one of those forms infact never seen one of those forms before we are waiting for our insurance company to get back to us.

This "European Accident Statement" is standard across Europe now and 'most' 'good' insurers give them out when issuing policies (or so I am led to believe).

We were getting them a long time before we left for Spain so probably 10 years ago now.

Really useful post - I have printed out some copies to keep in the car, many thanks.
Where can I get Spanish/Portuguese versions which I could give to the other driver if necessary? Can't find on the web site you posted.
