Default Health issues

Hi,
Just concerned about a long standing health issue I have, my prescriptions here are free and in July I get my old age pension.
Can anyone tell me how I will get on if I live in Spain,
Thanks
Paul

It will depend on which area you choose to live in because each region has their own rules on payments/non payments. Also it will depend on what your prescriptions are for as again each region will have a list of what is free/part payment/total payment.

As far as basic drugs are concerned, if you are a pensioner then you pay 10% of the cost of the prescription up to a specific cap which depends on your income. For incomes up to €18k the cap is just over €8 and for incomes above that but less than €100k the cap is just over €18.

In my region we initially had free prescriptions then had to pay 10% for a while but now they are free once again.

Sorry to say that as usual with Spain it is difficult to gain a definitive answer so often our responses to questions will be "it depends!!!!!"
