Hi All,

So we are due to move to Spain from Australia (im British) and will have to look into getting our health insurance regarding our residencia.

Do we buy for a 6 months? year? indefinite?
Also does anyone have any recommended health companies to look into? and what kind of cover do we need?

Any info would be great thank you!!

This is not a Spanish question but rather a general consumer question. So, you buy the cheapest shortest insurance you can get which gives you the cover you basically need and then you shop around until you find something better, cheaper or more suitable. Simples.

If you are just looking for something that will be accepted during the registration process, I think you will find that anything that looks remotely like a private insurance will do.

For example, we have a chain of private clinics in Malaga who offer a sort of private cover, but it is actually only a discount scheme so that you can use their facilities at a lower price. It's about 100 a year. I do know of a case where this was accepted. Frankly, the staff hasn't got the time to check out all the details as they are obliged to process the registration on the spot.
