The 'Guvnor!
Hi a continuation of the motoring threads!
After much debating, I am now about to do a deal on a second hand, Spanish registered, Ford Galaxy here in Spain - two years old and 1.9 diesel which all seems to have a bearing on future taxations.
From past enquiries I know that new vehicles have two levels of 'matriculation' (the IVA side of it). If an owner opts to never exceed 100km/p/h the level is lower - but one needs to visit the ITV station to (presumably) validate that the speed limit has been adhered to.
The Galaxy I have now seen has a 'speed regulator' built in - a form of speed governor I would assume. Does anyone have any experience of this and of having it removed - any costs involved such as extra taxes etc?
Help appreciated - am about to place a deposit.

By law all motor traders in Spain have to offer at least a 12mth guarantee on all used cars whatever their age.
As to the speed limiter question, it depends on the type fitted. It could mean at worst a replacement fuel pump (very expensive) or at best a simple case of removing a fuse (costs nothing)
I have never come accross the sub 100km/h option for paying less tax though

which is great in theory
In practice a mate of mine bought a car 6/7 months ago from one of our local Mr. Daleys................something is wrong with it (I know nothing about cars), & he has had it in his workshop for over 4 months now............waiting for a part?!
meanwhile she is still paying the loan, and instead of her shiny nearly new people carrier, she is driving around in her battered old Panda which they thankfully kept
this dealer is notorious (my mate should have known better)..............just doesn't care - we have heard that he has has in excess of 80 denuncias against him but he still gets away with it...........rumour has it he has friends in high places
