Hi guys,
Does anyone have an opinion on which is the best island to live in terms of work and property rentals (cost wise). I currently own a Nail and Beauty salon in the UK and am hoping to do similar there, would it work, is there a market for it?. In terms of scenery I prefer Gran Canaria but have heard that Lanzarote is a better place to live. I'm not bothered about night life so that can be out of the equation. Thanks in advance.

Its like comparing apples and oranges! Lanzarote is just a holiday island. GC has much more in terms of business and infrastructure, etc.
A 3 bedroom new build with garage, rents at no more than 400 euros per month in GC.
Edit: The Canarians are very vain, image is everything. So your business should flourish. But, There are loads of beauty salons of varying degrees, and even in these difficult times, they're always full. Depilation shops have sprung up everywhere in the last few years.

lanza is more than just a holiday island, its a fantastic place to live but like everywhere (including g.c) it has hit recession recently.apart from las palmas i dont think theres that much difference at all between the 2 islands, although im amazed at the rental price qouted, rents are still expensive here so if thats an issue perhaps gc would suit you better.
