Default Graduate Moving to Gibraltar

Afternoon everybody,

I have been researching all over the web to find the most comprehensive source of information about relocating and this site seems to be it, so....

I'm 25 and about to graduate from a London University in June. I am predicted a 2:1 in Accounting & Finance which will include 5-7 ACCA exemptions.

I have seen that there are quite a lot of opportunities for junior financiers out there, so I am going over on Monday for 4 days to scope the place out. I have contacted a few recruitment agencies etc to organise meetings for when I arrive and feel that I am qualified with my past work experience for the types of jobs being offered.

My current concern is that if I do decide to take the plunge and move out there, what do I do about accommodation? I have given myself a 3 month grace period, so if I am still unemployed in that time then I will return to London.

Where are the best places to search for accommodation? I can't seem to find much online. Also I am worried that, like in the UK, rental contracts are usually 12 months, which is something I don't want to commit too unless I'm in full time employment.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated.

As Concierge for the Spanish section of BE I would like to say hello and welcome.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Hi

I work in Gib and live in Duquesa. That is about a 30 min drive so you will probably want somewhere nearer. Renting is very expensive in Gibraltar so you would be better looking in Spain. Try La Linea, Campamento, Santa Margarita, San Roque, Palmones, Alcaidesa. You are in the right industry to get a job in Gibraltar and hopefully shouldn't have too much of a problem. the recruitment agencies won't take you seriously until you actually live here though so you end up in a catch 22 situation as you don't want to move over here without a job! You may be able to rent somewhere short term - we rented for four months when we first moved out here. if you want any further info, let me know

This requires research and consideration but the short term possibilities are best here:
