LATEST INFO ON THE GOTA FRIA
According to the latest weather models we will have heavy rain on Tuesday, & as is usual for October in the Marina Alta area it will be very intense, at first on Monday afternoon we face the probability of rain, ...light at first into the night & then intensifying, continuing all day Tuesday and Wednesday.
To talk about quantities is a lottery, but it is very likely to exceed 300 litres accumulated in Javea and elsewhere in the region, even more in some places although it is impossible to be specific, records could be broken especially in border rivers and ravines.

The rain in Spain falls heaviest on the Valencian plain?
Edit: Hope there are not severe power cuts out there mid-week. I've got an internet venture starting up with a Valencian contact, and if he's unable to supply me with relevant stats, I may have to delay some uploads. Still, no big deal, if I'm sitting about next weekend I can just go for a walk in the park instead.

it is a bit of a worry - if rainfalls break records can we expect more of this?

Re: GOTA FRIA MARINA ALTA
I remember two types of rain from my time in Madrid. There was the steady regular rain which lasted 2, or sometimes 3 days. Depressing, but at least you looked forward to the sunshine to follow Then there was the stormy cloudburst, which you braved at your peril. I remember once I was out at a business park giving a lesson and I needed to head back to the bus stop over the bridge, At this point the heavens opened. By the time I'd crossed over the bridge, water was 6 inches deep on each of the steps, I kid you not. Didn't really make a difference that I had a raincoat, and I got absolutely drenched. I was really lucky the bus driver allowed me onto the bus.

Gota fria storm here now.
This year is nothing like in Alicante last year.
About 4 weeks of rain and storms.
I had never seen storms like those.
Whoops no electric.

Re: GOTA FRIA MARINA ALTA
We had it during Strictly, knocked out the BBC HD signal just as Ann Widdicombe came on!!
Lasted about an hour and a half, extremely heavy, lot of lighting and thunder rattling the shutters. No power outage though.

As Lynnxa said, the forecast is for serious rain next week.
All you have got at the moment is the weather front that has passed across Spain - we had the rain in the south this morning.
If the forecast is right you will get a real pasting next week.

I just woke up to find this on FB - this is my translation from Valenciano
accurate but not my best 'flowing' effort admittedly - need coffee!!
& AEMET has re-instated yellow alert again
The tense wait we have faced at last gives us the situation for Tuesday, the most recent forecast maps give us heavy rain again for the whole of Tuesday, including strong winds at sea, which could be dangerous if the rivers flood, as the heavy seas could stop the flow of the rivers.
