On the other hand maybe I'm just turning soft in my old age, having become accustomed to decent weather in more recent years.

Crikey there's a shock, blue sky and sunshine.
Shall have to dash and try and catch a bit of it.

Well that didn't last, less than a couple of days in fact.
It's black as hells kettle out there and there doesn't seem to be any end to it.
I thought it had eased off a bit and tried to walk the dog, we came back like a couple of drowned rats.
Thank the Lord I'm on a hilltop or I'd have been building an ark by now.
To think I've missed a lovely UK Autumn for this.
Could be worse I suppose, looking at the floods in various other parts of Spain on the TV.

as to UK well for the last 3 days it has been pea soup weather each morning as the lazy old sun tries to burn it off, last night dark and soup making by 4pm
as the BH says, in the Uk it seems like for ever but in Spain its only for a month or two and then we wont be able to breath the hot air..............

We had heavy rain from Saturday afternoon and absolutely torrential rain and thunderstorms yesterday afternoon, but today is lovely, bright and sunny. Good breeze for getting all the washing dry too!

Re: Gota fría
The two terrified dogs woke me at 4.30am this morning. Outside we had thunder, lightning and torrential rain. I let them on to the bed, covered them up nicely and went out to sit on the terrace to watch the spectacle.
I enjoyed it for a couple of hours, but then had to sleep on the settee. Our electrics survived, for the first time ever.

Fortunately it only blew a couple of bulbs and triggered the trip. However since then I've been pulling all the plugs at the very first sign of thunder.
Looks like orange alert for tomorrow again. Quite a few more areas flooded and it still seems to be getting worse here.
If this isn't the gota fria I wonder if someone can tell me what the hell it is.
Watching the weather maps it seems that huge quantities of moist air are rolling in of the Med before being blocked with slightly cooler air from the West and dumping the lot down close to the East coast.

Re: Gota fría
I remember an electrical storm without thunder a few years ago which blew everything. I had the shutters down and slept through most of it. When I realised what was happening, I switched everything off but it was too late.
It blew the PC, modem, TV and video recorder, all of them fairly new.
I submitted the insurance claim but didn't expect to be paid out. When the assessor came round he was a bit baffled by the technology but he agreed everything and I upgraded all the damaged equipment.
There was a downside, I upgraded from Windows 98 to Millenium, the daftest operating system ever produced by Microsoft.

Re: Gota fría
Valencia area is going to get another soaking tomorrow evening & into Wednesday (its forecast)
If I know its coming the plugs come out including the phone plug as I am told that this can be a conduit to a blown modem/computer, LNB should also be earthed & to be really pedantic (have read) the coax should be removed from the digi box.
