Golf 2 suggestion ??
Whilst in CE we took walks over Golf 2; which has now virtually returned to nature. Our friend had a good idea IF anyone would/could do it. He suggests a mountain bike course, I know nothing about that type of sport but he reckons it would be an excellent challenging course.

If there was sufficient interest then someone could propose it to Fadesa. I'm not a mountain biker myself, but it might be a good idea to use the space if there was a commercial advantage of a bike course vs golf course.
Alternatively It could also be a stop gap idea until funding is available to spend the big bucks needed to convert back to golf. I suspect that a bike course wont be that expensive (but I don't know the business)
Till then nice to use it for a walk, no golfers annoyed/affected.

I am sure Frank Bourne will be more than willing to give his views on the thoughts of expats starting a business in CE

As you know I mentioned that starting any business in this environment needs lets say 'VERY careful thought'. Not for me.
It's an interesting discussion on how the land could be used as there 'aint gonna be' a golf course there in the foreseeable future.
Just walking around it is great, as the OP said, seeing how nature has already taken it over so much. Its a changing process that's great to see develop over time. Nature 1 Humans 0!
If I had a dog it would be a great place to walk it as well, away from the road system of CE.

regrettably the needs of people are far below the needs of those who wish to make a profit and impress their shareholders
back in the UK I have seen Public Open Space (a requirement by planning law) sacrificed to a later stage just so a couple of extra houses with smaller than normal gardens could make more profit. In another case the extra houses lost their front gardens and the front door opened out on to the pavement. (not something you expect of houses built only 20 years ago in a village environment).
But whilst talking about land that is currently not going to be used - why couldn't it be re-zoned for use for small businesses, especially for those living in/adjacent to the local area.?? The biggest problem for SME's is where they can get affordable accommodation

Great idea by your friend. First of all I buy a perfect plot of land overlooking the golf course to one day build my villa. Then Fadesa let it go back to nature - not so terrible, as I still have unspoilt views. Now someone has the great idea of a mountain bike track. While were at it lets add a water park and a go kart track as well! Then it would be just perfect. I'll offer my plot for camper van parking for those who want to spend weekends doing all kinds of exciting sports.

I now understand why you are rightly worried about the 'thin end of the wedge'. I would HATE it if the original golf2 area was used for caravan parking, water parks etc.. And I don't live on golf2.
I wish that we had what we wanted at the beginning .. e.g 2 golf courses.... but we all know that things have changed.
Any major change like mountain biking would of course be predicated on Fadesa approval like Mikecol and I mentioned in earlier posts... that's easier said than done! But good to 'pipe dream'... which is what we are doing here.
I am OK with a mountain bike track in this hypothetical situation, but its great to get feedback from the people overlooking it.... if its a bad idea, for the majority, scratch it! I think I personally would be OK if I had a villa overlooking a mountain bike track in this situation.
Good to look at this and other possibilities though in this thread, for anyone interested in chatting about it.
However even though its 'private land'. I still recommend that people enjoy walking through it, and see the beauty and changing nature, with or without dogs. Andy, would you be OK seeing ramblers walking by from your plot? (Ramblers are usually well behaved and follow the 'country code')

Ooops, sorry Andy. I really don't think it would ever, ever happen. I could see the positive possibilities and obviously not the negative which, after reading you post, I am now aware of. Grovel, grovel......I'll get me coat and go !!! Taxi for Mel please

Hey Mel, forget the grovel and the taxi I'm sure you are right that it will never happen, but I'd hate to see anything happen to the further detriment of CE. A nice space for ramblers works fine for me and I suspect it would for other plot owners on Golf 2. Anyway, it's brightened up a rainy evening

I think ramblers using the land is a perfect use of it. In fact I think I will have a stroll next time I'm over. It will take me down memory lane, from when we bought our apartment off plan, then went back to buy the golf plot. How exciting it was to see Golf 2 being carved out and shaped and the greens prepared and seeded. After a couple of years I was able to stand on my plot, look down on a lake and a green beyond it and imagine sitting by my pool having a beer and watching all those missed putts. Ah well, that dream went up in smoke, or rather get tangled up in weeds.
Whatever, we still love going to Esuri and always have a sense of pleasant anticipation as we leave Faro and head for our second home in this special part of Spain (not forgetting Portugal as well).

What is the second clubhouse like? It looks a lot smaller than the main one. How would that work if opened as a restaurant?
