Do I understand that there's an Iceland shop in Ayamonte area?
I'm looking for golden syrup for a Xmas project. Actually if there's anyone who knows where to get it in Huelva that would be even better. Even that's a long way to go!

Even though I guess I won't get over to you before Xmas. But it would be a nice excuse to pop by anyway. As long as you don't mind just putting it in your cupboard for an indefinite time

You don't actually need to go as far as Guia, there is an English shop in Cabanas also QM Garden Centre just outside Estoi and of course Apolonia in Almancil. Regards Bryony

Thanks for that, I am happy to go wherever friends offer to take me, as I do not drive.

Golden Syrup can be made in much the same way you would make any preserve. www.browncookieblog.blogspot.com all ingredients available at you local supermarket. Just tried the link and you will need to search the blog for Golden Syrup.

Thanks for this also. I did get some miel de cana. It's like a cross between golden syrup and treacle so it goes perfectly with the recipe I'm making which calls for both. I'd think it's a bit strong for light flavoured things like treacle tart. So I'll also try the home made method. I think closer to the real taste is agave nectar which I know is available from Carrefour because I've bought it there before. But again that's a trip to Huelva. I'm going just after Xmas to take my cat to be speyed so I'll look then. Thanks CW for your offer. I don't need it now so I'll have to find another time and excuse
