I have a theory on the global warming anyways .

Population is more than the old days with less trees ! Thats why more CO2 ..

So just have a massive world wide Tree planting to filter the CO2 ??

To simple maybe ? :)

The Governments plan is to charge more for everything ? Hows that going to help as i dont know about you but i only drive when i have to not for fun ..!

It cost energy to recycle so virtualy self balancing not a major saving ?

So how does charging more help i am blowed if i understand them

Couple of comments BP

(1). Recycling does save a lot of energy in some material streams, even taking into account the full collection and handling energy. Aluminium can recycling uses only 10% of the energy of new bauxite extraction and processing and steel is similar. This is one of the reasons scrap metal is valuable - it already has a lot of energy put into it to convert it from ore to useable metal.

(2). Charging more is a way of incentivising behavior. If something is cheap it is often used carelessly with little thought, if it is expensive people consider its use more carefully as it impacts their wallet more significantly. If you look at the cost of petrol in the US compared to the UK you can see the effect of fuel tax over the past 10-20 years - the US drives wasteful gas-guzzlers because the cost of doing so is cheap, in the UK it is mostly smaller more fuel efficient vehicles because fuel is comparatively expensive.

Targeted taxation of areas that we see as negative to the environment and human health are generally a good thing, the key is to ensure that there are reduced taxes on other areas, such as income tax, at the same time.

Sorry i dont buy that ..

1/ Lets look into it , 1 small tin can needs washing before putting in recycle bin , so we use warm water (energy used to heat it ) do it at night (so put light on to see it ) add some Fairy liquid (adding to plastic useage ) then dry it ( using a towel to dry it ) then towel needs washing ( so heat up water again and wash it ) Then it has to be driven to a recycle point ( fuel used to get it in there ) Then fork lifts handle it at depot ( fuel emmisions and fuel useage at yard )

2/ I for one and i am sure all Truck Drivers , Coach drivers etc, DO NOT Drive for the fun anymore :( If anyone has drove in the UK lately they will confirm that to drive in UK is absolute Hell .. Small roads full of potholes and traffic jams .. The cost of fuel makes no odds as the days of going just for a drive have gone .. We only drive when we have to .

Last Tuesday i went from Canterbury in Kent to Brentwood in Essex it took 2.5 hours to get there  and 3 hours to get back  A nightmare as the M25 and Dartford crossing is a joke nowdays ..

that journey should take 1 hour 15 minutes normally ..

If the Government want to really reduce emmisions they should use the Zillions of pounds they charge us Road users in supposed Road tax on the Roads as i reckon we are all driving 3 times longer than we should , so therefore they could reduce emmisions by 2 thirds .. If they was serious about the issue , which they arent as to them Traffic Jams = more money for them right ?

:sneaky:

You're really clutching at straws here, aren't you?

seemed all right to me last summer. Is it really truthfully that much better in Spain?

Wrong. Anybody who's ever done any cost-benefit analysis for construction projects (or just isn't a bit dim) will tell you that traffic jams aren't good for anyone.

Europe doesn`t really reduce emmisions.
Cause all have personal car and doesn`t use public transport.
For example
Public transport < 1 l. petrol per man
Personal = 6-8 l. petrol per man.
Its fake.

I watched the DVD on Global warming and it was definately a eye opener ..

A few bits from it i do feel worth mentioning ;
1. As we all know in the UK we tend to have the warm wet air coming in from west to east in like a circle motion , constantly going across the UK then dropping back down over Europe and returning minus the water of course thats fallen by the time its met back up with the Atlantic flow..

well the documentary clearly showed the Global warming effect and Computers did predictions as to the effects year on year as viewed by satellite ! This depressingly showed that whilst Global warming is making the Earth Warmer and we assumed this equates to more Sunshine !! Yippee we in Britain thought ! WRONG how dissapointing to see what the prediction showed was a larger cloud mass (obvious considering more heat = more evaporation ) following a slightly lower trajectory so rather than Scotland getting the most of the rains , which they dont mind as they wear kilts anyways so just take there socks off ! , In the future the whole of the UK is set to get Clouds and rain and more rain in a muggy humid heat !!

Depressing or what ?

2. Due to this extra rain and clouds and humidity , will follow a higher influx and breeding of Mossies and all them horrible creepy things ! As the winters will be wetter and mild Not killing them ..

3. The present sea side towns will be even deader than ever if thats possible ? as even less take uk seaside holidays..

4. Floodings in low level ground will no doubt take place .

5. Good News for Spain as i noticed only a slight increase in clouds only meaning a little more rain ! Which will no doubt be good to help water reserves etc...

Just 1 more plus in the get away to Spain yes or no book ..

Anyone else see that DVD ? if so what you think ?

Global Warming is all bollocks. We are in the blip of a very short warming period in the earths history, sandwiched between 2 ice ages. Global warming....my arse.

it seems amazing that all those climate scientists from all those countries could have missed such a simple answer - I hope you have contacted them with your hypothesis to show them the error of their ways

No need to respond any more on this post or any other post ever again people, fat mumbled there has managed to come up with the truth behind a hundred years of pollutants being pumped into the air and all the scientific evidence and anecdotal proof of a changing climate............................

hehe.

Guess what happened when climate information from 100 years ago was input into one of these computer systems? You guessed it, it showed an entirely different climate to what we have now.

Now, I'm glad someone mentioned the gulf stream. If the gulf stream was to change direction, away from us, We could potentially have the same weather as Canada. So, in theory, as the world heats up, England could be one of the few countries to get colder

The Gulf Stream cant change direction at all, it is simply a "theory" but what is happening is that since monitoring began in the 80's its strength has dropped to an alarming level.
This is what the scientists, rather than the Daily Mail, are concerned about, and it is far from a theory, its a reality.

From memory, and I shall have a look for the paper regarding it, if the North Atlantic Drift, as its actually called, drops in strength by another 10-15% then the conveyor will stop, not change direction because it needs the cold waters of the north sea to force the actually conveyor system, and since we are on the same latitude as Moscow, winters could be very bitter.

It is estimated that if this should happen then we could experience one arctic winter in 5.

When I worked in downtown Vancouver 40 years ago it had the same weather as the UK, it pi$$ed down every day for a month.
