Global warming??
Mrs Beast and I were lounging on the front terrace overlooking the Tordera valley and the mountain of Montseny the evening before last, the air was warm with a slight breeze coming from the North West and the wine was a delight to sip, the air of contentment was quite palpable.
Suddenly, from the direction of the mountains something changed, a chilled wind blew in haste disturbing the atmosphere....The warm air dissipated and the sky darkened just that little bit more than eventide...Above the skyline of Montseny, enormous in their cumulus, rose the four horsemen bringing with them the pound of thunder and the shriek of lightening....One could actually see it encroaching across the valley bringing with it a solid wall of rape and destruction....Wine goblets in hand, terrace furniture was hastily packed away and doors and windows secured..... Electric appliances and laptop were disengaged, phone line unplugged and candles hurriedly scattered about....Then it hit, the riders only spent a few minutes passing by but the crescendo and optical display they left in their wake was magnificent......Barely a quarter of an hour had passed and we were once again en’ terrace, tepid wine in hand surveying the devastation to the surrounding countryside..... It never ceases to astound and amaze this power Mother Nature has; which we more often than not take so much for granted.....Yesterday and most of today has been spent in rectifying the aftermath of those devil riders.. Global warming my arse! |
Re: Global warming??
I think it's a 'close encounter'. Report it to the authorities as soon as possible.

Yeah:thumbsup: Dreamed up by highly paid scientists who want more grants from the government. Actually, I blame the irresponsible eco-warrier charities like Greenpeace etc who have been making such stupid predictions over the past 30 years that now people like Jackytoo think it is all a con Climate change and global warming is happening, but the world wont be completely flooded by 2050 like the idiots were predicting a few years ago. Instead, this may happen by 2200 or 2500. It will happen, unless we change our ways quickly to give us a chance, and I cant see that happening Some nice graphs here which I remember studying at school http://www.global-greenhouse-warming...d-climate.html |
Re: Global warming??
cricketman and me in complete agreement - wonders will never cease.

Re: Global warming??
There is no proof what the causes are of any change in weather patterns, just speculation. Man made? just a normal earth cycle? Take your pick.
|
Re: Global warming??
Exactly. Why did the pro-global warming "experts" distort the figures, why are the antis stifled. You read and take your pick...none of us are going to be around to see them proved right or wrong. Whatever there are an awful lot of people earning huge amounts of money out of the whole farce.

Re: Global warming??
It is just not possible that man made carbon dioxide is not causing global warming. It absolutely is - there is no way it can't be. It is only the degree of the effect that is debatable.

The new discoveries are in sharp contrast to the general narrative until recent times, which had assumed that the Asian glaciers were melting away rapidly. As recently as 2007 the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change formally predicted that all the Himalayan glaciers would be gone by 2035: this was later found to be based on a bogus study issued by the hard-green campaigning group WWF. The IPCC retracted the claim, but stuck to its assertion that rapid melting is taking place. |
Re: Global warming??
Since the earth has had around 500 ice ages, then it stands to reason its had around 500 periods of global warming. We're on our way out of an ice age now and have been for the last 3000+ years, so thankfully the globe IS warming !!!

Jo xxx Look at the graphs, the recent spikes in temperature from the past 100 years or so are much sharper than anything in history, including when coming out of ice ages CO2 (burning of fossil fuels) and methane (cows) are causing global warming. It is happening, as jimenato says the argument is just about the "when" and "how fast" in the timeline. All the countries except the US agree. And even one of their dumb vice-presidents was convinced eventually A 5 degree increase in the global temperature would wipe out the human race and all other land mammals no matter what Hollywood disaster movie you may have watched recently. There will be no colonies on the Moon, on Mars or under the sea :D |

Its amazing how many people want to deny it, based on some soundbite they've heard from an oil company press release...

Re: Global warming??
..... and another thing. The government are no longer referring to it as "warming", due to the unquestionable change in their computers predictive figures and the news from their so called experts, they are now referring to it as "climate change", which tends to make me question that they have a clue at all. Lets face it, they have enough trouble predicting the weather for next week, let alone for the next millennium!
