Glad we dont live in the South
We speak Spanish, but we don't understand bloody word of this!
Only with subtitles, but this is shorter so we miss some information

Oh my, Ian and Irene, that had me laughing in recognition. I've seen the first one before and I think they're a series of satirical programmes, poking fun at themselves.
It's very difficult after learning Castillian to be confronted by the local dialect - like learning another language, mas o menos (or ma meno as they say down here.

The problem is... you soon pick up the slang and start to sound enough like a local to yield ultra-fast responses from people who don't know you!

Then if you live up North, then you have to contend with two languages. Here is Galician subtitled in English.
It is not only strange Spanish that we have difficulty with; it is some spoken English too!

Yep, here they seem to miss the 's' off the end of every word and concatenate them together, Good day becomes... "Buenodia". Other words and phrases get shortened, See you soon becomes just "logo".

I've seen that first clip before too.........and it still had me in stitches
Have to say I could understand the Andalucian clip far easier than the "Scottish" one!!

I feel sorry for those of you who are valiantly trying to learn good spanish but who happen to live in Cai.
As for scottish, my dad used to love Rab C Nesbitt - but I was astounded when I realised he was watching it with the subtitles on....

I think a fair few of the Andalucian quirks are common to Extremadura too rachelk!
That's why I could follow most of it; even though it was very tongue in cheek
I guess it would be a bit like a Spaniard watching Fawlty Towers, and thinking all Brits spoke and behaved like Basil!!
