Well, a friend got married there in May in the botanic garden. The garden was interesting, but have to say that the rest of Gib that I saw was less than thrilling. A bit dingy and solid with traffic. Not, IMO worth the long queues to get in or out.

We went to Gib on Monday, had no problems getting in, the queue was very short(9:15) and when we left we drove straight out (1:45)- only 2 cars in front of us. If they want to alleviate the problem of queuing why don't they do something with all of that waste ground on the right as you go in and use that as a queuing area? :huh:

It would appear that the Mayor's plan has been implemented today with the Policia Local making cars circulate when the queue has reached the island which is about 100mtrs before the Club Nautico.

well, yeah, i think it depends on your point of view and your situation. My memories of Gib of late are sitting on a terrace near the top floor of teh rock hotel, sipping complementary scotch (wahey!):beer: in glorious sunshine, looking down to the dockyard and beyond, with alameda gardens under my window (sort of), my view of alegciras and of Africa, and smoking my 1 pound 10 a pack fags!


I guess it just depends on what company you keep while your there. I agree there some bits that, well, to be frank could do with "sprucing up" but i would rather be there than here (uk).

To say it's better than the UK, while possibly true is rather damning with faint praise.

The friend who got married was a Brit getting hitched to a Spanish girl, and in a photographer's shop in Gib was told he should p*ss off back to the UK.

Most endearing.

Well, I can't see it as you do. It is a world apart from the Spain that I like.

oh jolly good then, whatever, its cool, its a free world. Personally i like both places, but thats just me, no problem. :cool:

I think that a big part of it is that Gib seemed so crowded and hurried. I just prefer the more laid back lifestyle of rural Spain.

It`s only crowded cos they dump all the cruise ship passengers off, so they can have a hoover up on the ship while they are gone.

Same applies on the Costa, bus the holidaymakers to Gib for the day so you can tidy up.

Avoid the daytime tourist influx and Gib is as peaceful as most places :confused:
